[ROM] ApeX 1.0.2.x for Droid 2 (12/7/10)

Special thanks to rob0rz for initially porting my DX ROM to the D2 and inspiring me to complete it :D

ApeX V1.0.2.5 for Droid 2 - 2 parts AOSP, 1 part Blur, all ApeX :D

*If you watch the video below, please just skip to 1:00, and ignore my blabbering about requiring a leaked kernel. That is no longer true for the DX, and was never true for the D2. Thanks!*

Changes in V1.0.2.x

-Based on the D2 2.3.20 build, deodexed, optipng'd, zipaligned
-All 2.2.1 apps from DX 2.3.320 leak with the exception of dialer and contacts
-Overclocking script is back (disabled by default)
-Ditched Launcher2 in favor of ADW.Launcher
-Fixed a few framework graphic bugs (ty Team DeFuse!)
-Additional sysctl.conf mods (ty nenolod & drod!)
-Added fly in pop-up animations and flipping transitions (ty johnclevenger @ XDA!)
-A few new scripts to choose between AOSP and Blur apps
-Ad Blocking toggle (enabled by default)
-Stability, reliability, enjoyability :)

Credits to P3Droid, TBH, Team DeFuse, Xeudoxus, Beesley, Cyanogen, Pete, and many more. Without all the contributions of the devs to the Android community, this would not be possible. Thanks!

Features:

-Optimized & Zipaligned framework and applications
-Market Fix (all apps will show up)
-Build.prop and sysctl.conf mods (ty Beesley, nenolod, drod!)
-Vanilla Android Theme w/ 10% battery percentages in bar
-Transparent Notification Shade
-ADW.Launcher with up to 7 homescreens (5 by default)
-Neural Network Live Wallpaper
-Built-in ad blocking
-Droid X FM Radio Included
-MMS app w/ black background (switchable to Blur via script!)

Scripts: Use in terminal emulator or through adb. For installation, removal, and switching of apps. Run a script with nothing after it to get a help file on how to use. Ignore the dashes, they are ghetto bullet points. These all require superuser elevation (type su first).

Remove/Restore Scripts:
-calc
-dxeye
-genie
-launcher
-office
-tether

Switch Apps:
-alarm
-carhome
-email
-gallery
-messaging

Install/Remove system apps: (warning, these are very powerful! Use with caution)
*Place desired file on /sdcard
-install
-uninstall

Miscellaneous:
-adblock
-cpuinfo
-sound
-sys
-zipalign_apks

Overclocking:
-overclock

Comes with 4 profiles by default, you can also load your own setscaling.sh from your sdcard.

Installation Instructions: Please have a nandroid of your current setup in case this is not for you :)

-Place file on sdcard. Install ROM from sdcard in ROM manager. Wipe data and cache.

OR

-Place file on your sdcard. Bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery
-Navigate to mounts and storage. FORMAT data, and cache
-Return to previous menu and install .zip from sd card
-Choose ApeX and install!

QUIRKS

-The Blur Email app (default email app) will FC if you do not have an account added through My Accounts. Just add an account first.
-If you're using another launcher besides ADW, do not use the 'Search' widget. That's for ADW only. It'll get stuck at the top of your screen if you use it on LauncherPro. Use the 'Google Search' widget instead.
-Swype is not preinstalled, but this ROM installs a folder called 'ApeX' on your sdcard, where there will be a working version of Swype for you to install, if you so choose :)

Download Link:

Hotfix for all versions - Quick Office now will preview Gmail attachments and adds a 'Reboot' option to the shutdown menu.
Fabolous_ApeX_HotFix.zip

Fabolous_ApeX_V1_0_2_5_D2.zip

Extras:

my personal ADW.Launcher config file
-If you want to try out my settings, right click the link, save as, and save that file to your sdcard. Then, in ADW, go to backup/restore, and restore configuration.

adw_settings.xml

Apps removed from 2.3.320
-You can reinstall Blur apps from this archive by placing the desired .apk files on your sd card and then using the install script!

Okay so ROM manager doesn't like to work at all for me. but i tried again in bootstrap and it worked.

I realized i forgot to do 'format data' and 'format cache' before installing.

but it opened, said it was mounting system, mounting cache, copying files and completed. and loaded.

would me have forgetting to format the data and cache cause bugs? or sense it installed am i good?

It could give you bugs depending on what you were running previous to this ROM. Your old system data and applications are what is stored on data and cache, and could case problems (i.e. bootlooping)

If you get caught in a bootloop, you can reboot into the stock recovery (IDK what the key combo is on the D2, but on the original Droid, you held down x while powering up) and do a factory reset.

I was on stock rom. and I'll be sure to do a reset if i run into bugs. so far it appears to be running fine.

only problem is I tried moving the 'google talk' app into the trash, like you normally would. and now on the launcher the middle button says 'talk' and just opens google talk.

how can i put it back to the middle button launching app drawer?

im not familar with ADW at all.

Ahh! Yeah, I did that too, the trash is up top now. To replace the app drawer, just hit menu, add, custom launcher, then choose launcher activities, show/hide app drawer, and drag that sucker back in place :)
