Rumor: Gingerbread is Android 2.3 and coming out Nov 11

A trusted source has tipped us to the potential launch date for Gingerbread, the 2.3 version of Android. According to our source, the SDK for this upcoming revision will debut on November 11th. The timing is àpropos as Samsung is slated to have a big event in New York City next week on the 8th and the confirmation of a Gingerbread-powered Nexus Two is a possible topic for this event.

Only thing I'll say is Samsung put the squash on the rumor that they were releasing a "Nexus 2" device.

I'm already impatient for a ROM since supposedly D1 won't get an 'official'.

... hurry up new phones, I wanna upgrade...

Actually there has been speculation back and forth as to whether the d1 will get an official update due to possible hardware limitations but its all up in the air.

And the discussions that come from that speculation indicate that D1 will receive the update for Gingerbread. I've heard this also from good sources.

Title needs to be changed. the SDK may be out then, not the OS itself ....
