The thing I've often found when helping friends with their phones.... 9 times out of 10.. Lag is a user caused error.. Disabled apps or tons of apps or the cache needing cleared.. Or corrupt duplicate files everywhere.... Mostly but not always

My opinion re: Lag

My Droid Incredible 2 absolutely got laggy the longer I had it. I think that had more to do with GB then anything else. Phone ran great on Froyo.
My RAZR HD was fine until \\KIT KAT\\ hit it. Battery life took a HUGE hit, WiFi signal strength was less, it would take FOREVER to switch from WiFi to 3G then 4G. Not to mention the first roll out had serious bugs Moto had to address right away. (This is why I am patient about updates). It was horrible. That's when I started Rooting and ROMing.
So IME I actually blame PART of it on YOU people. :D The people that clamor incessantly because:
"I WANT THE NEW UPDATE!!!!"
Why do you want it? What feature do you want?
IT'S NEW. MINE IS OLD NOW.
Yea, but name one feature you think is must have?
DID YOU NOT HEAR ME? IT'S NEW!
There have only been 2 updates that were must have for me. I really wanted ICS on that Dinc2 because the Time Warner app had to have ICS. (HTC said it was coming, then backpedaled... and I'll admit I never went HTC again because of that).
And JB was killer for me for Google Now.
Now they are trying to sell me on Lollipop. There's not ONE killer feature there I need. I don't need L.
"Better battery life"... uh.... I have a Turbo.
"Richer notifications".... *yawn*
"Whole new look" I have no issue with the current look. And boy didn't EVERYONE just love iOS when it updated it's look, right?
I'm really dreading the phone calls I get from friends and end users "OMG, I downloaded this update and my phone looks TOTALLY different!!!!"
"Trusted devices" Yea, I already have that. Thanks Moto.
"Guest mode".... *yawn
"ART Runtime" Yea, I have no doubt that will makes things even smoother but.... I have a 2.7GHZ phone with 3GB of RAM. There is ZERO slowness on this phone. OCCASIONALLY a Widget (like Hangouts) will lag as it loads new content. Any 'techy' person knows that is because of the Widget, not the phone.
Widgets and OS updates the phone was NOT designed for cause more lag then anything else.
IMO-and-IME.

This may actually be scary news for both Motorola and Verizon. This phone is so good it could last through two phone upgrade generations. As much as they want you to think they are OK with you only replacing your phone every two years, it's now far more desirable to have you replacing it every year so they can get another chance to earn additional equipment revenue.

Scary thought but I agree with ya that they want you to upgrade to the newest device more often than 2 years. I hope they don't make it so you have to via the phone falling apart or blowing up. ( I carry mine in a front pocket LOL )

They would only have to push a bad version of Android and a bad Kernel to render this phone worthless... Corporate sabotage! Lol.

Bah....all you people saying you'll keep this phone for YEARS.... in 2 years we will have a 64GB base model with 6 GB of RAM and a 4GHZ processor. THAT will get you to upgrade. :D
Let's not forget our removable battery will start losing its juice at around 18-24 months...

Not if there's no functional utility to that power. I'd like more storage, but don't see much on the near-term horizon for more power. Plugging into peripheals such that my phone can replace my laptop would be great, but I think that's several years off yet in terms of processors truly rivaling laptops that run cool enough for a phone..

My turbo could very well last me as long as the battery holds a decent charge, but most likely I'll be drooling over the next, greatest, gadget that comes along. But what I would love to see more is consistent wireless speeds and maybe a few more towers in my area. 6megs off peak here at work, I know I'm supposed to be working. 1.2 during peak. At home its pretty much 3g most of the time.

We must...We must...increase our boost

What will move me is a high-end phone that's less than 5" display. Such a beast is frickin' unicorn in the Android world.

I just can't think of anything on the feature front that would lead me to upgrade. I consume most of my content/media on a laptop or table.

One feature that WOULD be killer is a radio emitter that could control my tv, garage door, etc...

Fox you sure you believe this ? I can't find any thing on Phandroid or Droid life . Usually when the soak starts they report on it .
Wondered same thing as I see no similar report elsewhere.

Never said I believe it, it's just information posted on another site so I felt it was worthy of at least letting everyone draw their own conclusions. I would LIKE to believe it, and timing seems to make sense but who really knows? I haven't heard first-hand from anyone that is tied to the SOAK tests that theirs has started so it is to be taken with some grains of salt.

Another news blurb to be taken with a grain of salt...

Motorola DROID Turbo Android 5 Lollipop Possibly Coming Autoomobile

"There have been new reports by the users that Motorola is inviting some to take part in their SoakTest. The Soak Test is done to test out new updates before they start distributing it to the all the devices.

They did the Soak Test for the two other devices and it looks like it is the Motorola Droid Turbo’s turn now. However, they did not specify that it is going to be the Android 5.0 Lollipop, there is also a possibility that it might turn out to be a totally different update."
