It won't come out this week. Those screen shots and rumors are no different than the ones in past weeks.

So stupid.

You keep saying this over and over again on almost every page. I think by this time we all now realize you don't think the phone is ever coming. Actually all but 3 of your 274 posts is saying that this phone isn't coming... :)

We get it, We get it.... the phone isn't coming..... We get it... We get it... :)

If you're wrong, I propose you don't buy it until 2 weeks after release. I don't appreciate you calling anyone that believes this phone will drop this week 'so stupid'.

Yes, once you unlock the bootloader you will still be running stock ics. Nothing will change, the bootloader will just be unlocked so you can install a recovery, install custom roms or put custom apps on your phone.

Yes, see my link a couple posts above.

Poor choice of words on my part. I meant unlocking instead of rooting, but in terms of this device I believe they're interchangeable. Once you unlock the device, it's already rooted.

Edit: I think the link and instructions I posted previously only unlock the bootloader. If you want root as well, you'll need to flash superboot instead of fastboot. Explained here. This is for the GMS Nexus but will be the same or very similar for our Nexus.

Edit part 2: This is straight from the horses mouth, Paul Obrien. For the LTE Galaxy Nexus.

From the last link in the quoted post, it looks like root is temporary via this method after a reboot? Maybe I glazed over it a little too quickly, but that's what it looked like to me. If this is the case, its safe to say we'll have "permenant" root available shortly after release? I thought I read something similiar on the rezound, root is lost at reboot/power off....

Please don't act like I'm the only one LOL

Alright guys... I know frustration is getting to some of us, but let's try our best to keep the pessimism to a minimum and try not to call out other members, either.

If I have said it once, I have said it... well, a bunch of times.... we are here to post our opinons about the devices we love (or are frustrated with) and not about each other. Let's keep the discussion on the G-Nex in here.

At first look it appears that way, but if you read further down the page, someone explains that the root is permanent and why.

Alright alright things for me are getting a lil out of control lol. I'm kinda a noob when it comes to unlocking, rooting, etc etc. When benson posted up the very first post with a link saying this is the first thing we should do. I looked over the instructions and thought hey I can do that. Then the questions and other links came up and now I'm overwhelmed with what the heck does what. If u go back and read through the last 3 pages of posts it turns into a cluster u know what for me lol.

All I really want to do is overclock it up to 1.5, so do I just unlock it then install android overclock? Or do I gott install superuser or more stuff. I'm so lost lol. Can't someone make a thread called unlocking ur nexus for dummies and we just stay on that subject lol. So can anyone tell me what would have to be done? I wouldn't mind it unlocked, but I don't wanna install anything custom on it really, nothing where I can screw up the phone, basically just wanna have the ability to overclock it and work off the phone stock.

Insanely stupid question I know...but will my motorola car charger for my D1 work for nexus? I assume no..just want to confirm. Thanks.

I could be wrong, but from my knowledge, all Android phones use micro usb, so all are interchangeable. I have Moto, Samsung and HTC chargers and they all work for each of our phones. The connection plug looks different on each, but they still plug in and work for each phone.

IMO it will work. It's still a mini usb or micro, whatever they call it. That's what's so nice it's a standard and pretty much all phones use it now, minus that one from that fruit company...

The only accessories I've seen for the nexus are not compatible with the LTE version because its a different size and I haven't seen anything specifically for the LTE version. Unfortunately, I may end up buying one of the verizon cases just to hold me over till I can get like a seido or otterbox or something for it.

My apologies for the confusion.

Forget absolutely everything I posted (including the Droid Life article) and do only this: [HOW TO] Unlock Bootloader & Root GSM Nexus - xda-developers

Follow this exactly. With this method you don't have to install ADB. Everything is easy, in a neat little package. This method will unlock your bootloader, root your device and give you superuser.

You need superuser to install root apps like overclock and others.
