I was going to use the HOB method but just preferred to get the ota again so I don't need to read up on it and download a bunch of crap. Who knows the night is young I may just do it afterall

Yes, I love when my hard work is called a "bunch of crap".....that's exactly the type of user I want to support. Perhaps waiting for the OTA is in fact the best choice after all.

Just to make sure i am correct...I am on .232. To update to 246 i just follow the prompts on HOB and it will walk me through fxz back to 905 and then to 246 correct. I don't
have to fxz to 905 on my own before running HOB?

Ewww. No FXZ to 905. That's not what the HoB does. It uses a couple components of the 905 FXZ but only 2. It prepares the phone by flashing 3 things (2 from the 905 fxz and 1 from the update you're installing) and then walks you through installing the update in recovery. It's super freaking easy to use. Just follow the prompts, yes.

Either skipping the flash step or ignoring rsd failures. Either way not awesome.

I didn't get any RSD failures. I rebooted back into .232 and am going to try again. I must have completely missed something.
