How to tell if new Droid X is "new" or "refurb"

So, my 3rd Droid X is on the way. How do I tell if it is really new or a refurbished model?

If it comes in a brand new package like the original, it's new. If it comes in a box that isn't the original package, it's a refurb.

When I sent my prior 2 back, I sent them with the original packing. If they refurbished those models and stuck them back in the original packing, How would you know?

check the serial # on the box with the one on the phone. They dont do that though, if its in a new box, its a new phone. If its in a white box, its a CLNR.
