*Does the I got to play with the Nexus dance*

Yup apparantly we spent a couple billion or so with Verizon last year and they sent us one. The guy in IT knew I was waiting for it so it brought it up to let me play with (thanks Matt!). I am sold 100%. The display is perfect. You can see a little of the Pentile display in a green window when we were watching a netfix window but you really had to look for it. The screen swipe sideways takes some getting used to as well as the side power button. The camera is fabulous for a phone. 100 times better then the droid. I simply cannot believe I got to play with it.. He also said the 4G was faster then his home at 33/16mbs. The battery worries me some. 20% in 15 minutes with the auto adjust brightness on. OUCH! Doesn't matter, I am sold. I will carry around a car battery in a backpack if need be. So crisp and smooth. He said he was going to write a review on it so I will direct you to it when he does.

I have some information for you guys regarding the release. As I've stated far too many times, my spouse is a rep with VZW and is involved in many more responsibilities than your run-of-the-mill-know-nothing corporate rep. Because of his strong sales, he was selected to attend a roundtable discussion this week with Jerry Fountain, a high up manager with Verizon. The purpose of the meeting isn't important, but knowing who Jerry Fountain is is important. Jerry is the President of the Tennessee/Carolinas region (which is our region - we live in N.C.) and has some serious clout within Verizon.

In the meeting today, Jerry was discussing the holiday season and sales. He was on the topic of the very good 4G phones available on Verizon and said the best is yet to come. He was referencing the Galaxy Nexus. Then, he announced to those in attendance that the Nexus is slated for a December 8th launch in all locations and that the date is pretty solid at this point.

Again, I post information simply to inform - take it for what you want. But when I hear a Regional President of Verizon say something like this to a small group of employees hand-chosen by their managers due to their sales success within the company, I take it as a pretty good "source."

I, for one, thank you for providing all of us anxious geeks with some inside info. I appreciate the sincerity & hope that the legitimacy is equaled!!!

How was the size and thickness since it was the Verizon version? How was the thickness and size compared to say a Droid X?

You sure it was the VZW version? Did it have the branding and was definitely on LTE?

Thanks.

It was shipped from VZW and had the logo on the back. I couldn't tell you about the thickness as I only have the droid and it was thinner. It felt good in my hand and I was able to one hand it a bit.

Pretty cool! I'm with you on the battery, if I like a phone enough, I'll get it despite any bad battery reviews!
