Home Replacement Apps = Completely new phone experience.

I have used Open Home, DxTop, GDE, and Pandahome.

Open Home comes in last place for me, even if they made it stable.

Next would be DxTop and ONLY because of the issues when returning Home the Icons take several seconds to appear.

I am torn between GDE and Pandahome.

The last few hours last night and this morning with Pandahome, I dont get a Force Close but I do get a black screen as if it crashed and then it shows back up. This is during a swiping right or left. I do Love the side bar docks, no need for more than 3 screens with those, and they are scrollable, but I wish there was an option to adjust the transparency and if you wanted your icons alphabetized.

Im back to GDE this morning and I love the Fade transition over all the rest. I love the fact that you dont have to swipe back left or right to get home but just keep swiping in the same direction. The dock widgets are good, but not as good as Pandahomes sidebar docks. I can figure out what order its lining the icons with. Its not alphabetized, or what order you put them in but some random ordering. I like the dock at the bottom and the dedicated phone button.

Still torn between the two.

Using PandaHome also. Def prefer it over OpenHome. Have a question, in PH how do you move icons to the sidebar docks? I really want to use this feature. Sure I'm missing something really simple.

mad3963... all i did was this: place app on homescreen, open side dock, long press app from homescreen and move to side dock.

there may be an easier way, but this is what iive got.

if anyone knows of a way to set the sidedock to not place the apps in alphabetical order, fill me in.

Thanks! Had tried that last night, did want to work. Works fine now. Moved all my Home screen apps to dock bars. Now my Home screen is clear and I can see all of my AWESOME Cincinnati Bengals wallpaper. SWEET! :icon_ lala:

Don't know if it was in this thread or another (too much to read on this VERY active forum....), but a few days ago I panned GDE as being buggy. After hearing that there was an update, I re-downloaded it and am very pleased. Things do seem to be a little bit slower (not just changing screens, but starting apps too), but the Droid is so fast it is still way faster than any Windows Mobile device I have ever used. Most probably won't notice a difference, and the update to fix the early reported issues with the Droid was so fast I expect that any remaining glitches will be fixed soon.

Absolutely worth paying for.

I when ahead and downloaded Panda to check it out.

I am very pleased with it so far, no problems to speak of, and loving the 2 side docks. I used anycut to create shortcuts for some quickdials and tossed them in there.

The home screen scrolling is MUCH smoother, I am honestly quite surprised. I didnt think it was that bad until now that I see it as it should be. Very nice so far.

arcsum68... keep in mind, there are actually 6 sidedocks. only two are visible by default. to get the others visible, hit menu from the homescreen>theme settings>menu (again)>dockbar

from here youll see all six available dockbar buttons. hit whichever ones you want visible and set the border settings to "on".

i only use one so far, but you know... the more you know :shooting star:

After hearing so much good said about panda home I had to try it. I've been using Open Home since I got my Droid on the 7th. I have to say I prefer Panda home. It does everything Open Home Full does for free...PLUS adds things like being able to view apps only within a certain letter range. Before you buy Open Home Full try this out!

Question:

Why is it that the only GDE transition option that doesn't 'wrap' is NORMAL?

It's the one I prefer, but becomes tedious when it abruptly stops at the end, and the only recourse is to back one's way through all the other screens.

I want to check out GDE, but it won't let me purchase it. Keeps saying my credit card is invalid. So I redid the info a couple times... still no good. So I put in another credit card... again, still no good. So I was like WTF, I know my cards work, so to test it, I bought NES emulator from the app store - worked fine.

Anyone have this issue, or know the reason why it wouldn't let my buy GDE?

GDE is priced in Euros. I had the same problem using Google checkout with my AmEx card. I switched to a Visa debit and it worked fine. Something about some cards not letting you do foreign currency exchanges.

Good luck!
