My retirement income isn't going up. As I see it, you don't need a new motorcycle, but you need to have contact with the outside world. Every other phone company has cheaper rates and a better new phone plan, but I'm stuck with Verizon as it is the only one that serves my neighborhood.

I never went used more than 7 GB a month since I have had the UDP, once I used 10 GB, now my mindset had changed, like I said, I will burn through data like the Tasmanian Devil, and for the ones who don't have UDP, stop the winning, you guys want some cheese with the whine. I can just picture YOU UDP haters "because you lost it by going the subsidised route" jumping for joy, Verizon yes Verizon finally giving it to them, whoopee, LOL.

You and Verizon are playing a chess game. You make a move then they make a move. You move, made by enough people, will result in a reaction by Verizon that you won't like.

I left UDP for personal reasons and haven't been disappointed or miss it. However, I don't begrudge people who try to keep it. It is your decision to make. Enjoy it or leave it.

Those are all "assumptions" Mr Squire sir. You can't "assume" people are doing one thing without actual proof. Just like you can't assume Verizon raised their rates because of data abuse. Even if every single person of that 1% was abusing their data, it still wouldn't be negatively impacting Verizon's network. It's about Verizon slowly pushing people off unlimited and into more expensive plans, in order to continue lining their pockets with cash. Plain and simple.
You know what they say about people who assume... exactly...that and it's pointless.

Listen, let's be real here... They sold $30 UDP when the average person used 1GB of data a month. At that time, $30 a month was a PREMIUM price.

Things change. Now people are on those old pricing schemes, and getting more data than the people paying more on the tiered plans.

So put yourself in their shoes... You are the tiny minority. I was at one point as well.

Ok, so in the end, VZW offers you services that the others cannot, right?

And lets be clear, you don't need a cell phone. People have lived for thousands of years without them. Would it be inconvenient? Sure, but lets not make this about need...

I agree. I don't mind the additional $20 bucks though. I still get my money's worth.
BTW. ..I was still using 20-30 gig back on 3G with my original Galaxy S device.

So why comment, since you have no skin in the game, your sourness is obvious.

And that's what they are counting on. Those that actually need and use UDP and find value in it, will be fine with the rate increase and there is nothing wrong with that...

Sourness?

Dude, making comments like that in an attempt to take away his polite and logical response, to try to minimize it because you don't like it, reflects poorly on you...

Re: Customer service. I actually don't get the "bad customer service" rap. Every time I've called I get someone who seems happy to try and help me and if the problem can get solved, it does. Every time I've worked with reps in the stores they are pleasant and efficient, if sometimes a little slow. I blame the process for that, not the reps.

I think what some people call "bad customer service" is more like "i simply did not get what I asked for" like a discount or some such thing. Did you call with a broken under warranty phone and they said "Sorry can't help you?"

Agreed. In the 2 or 3 instances I've called customer service, it's typically been a technical issue and the reps were helpful, even if they weren't the ones that could solve it. They would get ahold of the appropriate party and get me in touch with them. And then they'd call back for a follow-up to see if things were working fine for me.

...and I wonder just why some people would need to call customer service so often that makes them have a "bad experience every time." If I had to call customer service so often for something, I think I would've moved on from that product or service...

Yep. The way I see it is, I've been paying the same price for the past 3 years... It was bound to happen. Of course I'd be happier if it was only 10 bucks, but it is what it is.

I have only had to call them a few times, but each time they were polite, cheerful and fixed the problem...

Whenever I have gone in to a store, they always took care of me. I really don't have anything to complain about other than historically, VZW can be slow with updates...

Not to mention when VZW started these new S,M,L,XL plans, costs for some people actually DID go down.

About time and rising prices though... this is tecnology.. Unlike a car or a motorcycle, prices in technology can, do, AND SHOULD drop. Data should become cheaper as it becomes cheaper to offer it. And when the price drops too low, 5G or 6G will come out and we'll all want it...

And that is all that some of us are saying... It's nice if when gas prices go down to $1.90 a gallon and you want it to last as long as it can, but you just know at some point it is going back up to $3...

My point is that it is a personal choice. Shut up and pay the extra fee, change plans or change carriers. Sounds like your the one that's being sour by saying you're going to become a Tasmanian devil. Do you want to get as much "free" data before the gravy train ends? Go for it. Just don't complain when Verizon reacts to it.
