First post here so be gentle! :)

Every time I plug in the usb, it fires off my default browser and trys to get me to sign up for Vcast.

From the research I have done, what happens is that the phone does an "autoplay" when it is connected (like any other usb mass storage device).

I have found that there is a file /etc/system/CDROM.ISO which if removed stops this... of course I have no permissions to delete the file.

I guess that means I have to root the phone to stop the endless harassment from Verizon.

Any other solutions?

this is the solution for that on the Incredible. I have no idea if it works with the TB but it is worth a shot

Dial ##7764726
Hit Call
Type Password is 000000
Hit Feature Settings
Choose CD ROM
Click Disable
Hit menu, commit modifications (it will say no item changed)
Back out to home

Tried that, you do get to a menu, but there is no CD ROM option...

no joy there... I neglected to mention that I had tried that...

It's on my web page: Android / Thunderbolt

There is probably a way to disable it on your PC side. Google how to disable autorun for your OS.

Right click the icon that pops up when you plug the phone in. It's in the task bar by the clock. Change the default action to do nothing.

What do you mean it asks you to sign up for vcast? I thought it was a free service but I haven't looked in depth yet as I start to reconsider Verizon here.

Snow02... the motorola driver/icon lets you do that, the one that comes with the HTC sync has only 3 options: open, synchronize now, exit.

No joy there.

joeshell20:

You can find the new drive and turn off autoplay... but unplug and plug back in and autoplay is checked again. BTDT.

Thanks, Greg

Vcast browser auto launch solved on Thunderbolt

I renamed the file at /etc/CDROM.ISO and it no longer launches when I plug in a USB cable
