nope it is a solid accessory including the port assembly. My Lumia is pretty heavy and it sits in there nice and solid. The ball and joint take some force to move around so its not like the phone will just flop over.

They really did an excellent job on the design.

Just be careful adjusting it when it's inserted in the phone.

I would say the Incredible is my favorite Smartphone of all time so far. Was my first Android and was untouchable over the Omni I had previously.
