My server is a pair network server, if thats any help
I uninstalled the anti virus and e-mail works again, and suggestions or recommendations greatly appreciated, how important is anti virus on this unit, I noticed the speed of the phone was slower and battery life was reduced with the anti virus.
I never open e-mail from unknowns or surf porn .... do I need anti virus

Thanks in advance for any help.

There are multiple threads on this topic. Antivirus is not really necessary on android phones at this point. I would only use lookout for the lost phone feature. IMO I wouldn't use it or any sort of task killer as well.

Im not so sure if it would be the virus scan or the firewall or even both. Usually when an anti virus blocks an outgoing server its usually the firewall ir if there is a specific email scan on lookout that could be the problem.

Talkin away on my liberated DROIDX

Thanks All for useful input.. please keep any ideas coming to rectify the issue, if most don't think I need the AV so be it, however I like the "Lookout" features and would install it if it would not FU my outgoing mail....are there any other AV products that I could try... I did try AVG I think and even worse issues.
PS I am new to the phone / technology, I have had a flip phone for years and decided to join the 21'st century....
So far I love the phone, but there is just so much dam Krap it can be overwhelming.

Thanks again. CS

With the type of platform Android uses writing viruses is difficult. That's the same reason Macs don't use virus protection, at least mine doesn't.

The problem with them, including AVG is that they are huge resource hogs.
Impossible, no but highly unlikely you'd get a virus.

I use Mobile Defense, which has been in Beta forever it seems and you have to go on a waiting list to get it for tracking my Droid.
