Is it REALLY the most anticipated phone for the general population though?

If the GN isn't, then what is?

I keep hearing this about the general population bla bla bla (no offense to you whatsoever). If that's the case and the general population doesn't know about this phone and whatever, then what DO they know about and anticipate (according to everyone that says this)?

In my opinion, then they don't really know about ANY android phone. The only phone the general population really knows about then is the iPhone.

Haha I know but I'm right there with ya. This is completely ridiculous. I feel like all my optimism has run out and being negative/realistic is the only thing that makes it better. No chance of letdowns.

Or maybe we're just hysterical...

I'm doubtful of a Dec 9 release because Razr and Rezound commercials are still running strong. One would expect marketing of these products would taper down if the next big release was just days away. :\


EDIT: is anyone fearful that the curved design may it less durable? I'm thinking the GN may be more prone to breaking if sat because of its curved shape, especially if laying face down. I'll admit, I've unknowingly sat on my OG a few times. Couches are dangerous places for phones lol

I would say they only know about phones that are advertised - most are not following tech forums for phone that will be released. So sure they know about the iPhone....and the Razor, and maybe the Rezound and Bionic. But I would agree that they do not really know about this phone yet. And may not until after release, and only then if there is some kind of advertising campain. Which may not happen if VZW pushes other more profitable phones first.

Indeed I get you..lol I need remind myself where we all are. In a device forum and most of us have seen so many phones come and go. What a rush watching the magic of huge anticipation and then when finally the moment comes we get the device some are left with a feeling of wanting more..lol just because a kick ass new device is always around the corner. Haha I've spent so much I'm even trying hard to quit looking in the newer release threads...

Very much agreed on all of that.

But let's just pretend that we tech obsessors are included in the group of general population. This Galaxy Nexus phone was first brought to light a LONG time ago and I (along with many others) have been following it for several months.

Now, I myself, only heard about the Razr, Rezound about a couple weeks before it actually released at most.

So I think as far as anyone is concerned, with the length of time that people in general (techies or not) have known about the Nexus and followed it all along, that makes it the most anticipated phone of the year. And look at how crazy it has made the tech world with its highly anticipated release!

Just stopped by a corporate vzw store in PHX,AZ. Rep was super friendly, but didn't offer any words of encouragement about the phone being out this week...he said the Friday after next, at the earliest. He seemed to have a heard some similiar stuff to what's been posted on the boards here about the demo units in NYC, but again I found myself feeling like I knew more, at least feeling more knowedgeable than the vzw rep...He also said no stores have gotten any phones yet, that there are no preffered regions, etc, but that every corporate store would get the same amount of stock etc etc at release and at the same time.
Sad...at least the sun broke through the clouds for a little bit today, other than that a sad day. Lol

This is kinda what I was thinking. I don't understand why Samsung would just ship a couple here, ship a couple there, and leave a most stores high and dry for a little bit.

I didn't buy the Razr at all for its thinness...that's me though and I know most may have...but that was just a little bonus I guess...

The sales rep gave me his business card circling www.verizonwirelesssurvey.com when I pressed him on who or where to call to light a fire under any important butt to help get the ball rolling, at least reinforce to vzw that we want this phone. Guess I'll give the survey site a shot, who knows...
The last rep I talked w/ two weeks or so ago told me I knew more than he did! I should have asked him why I should buy the phone from him(so he can get is commision) if I knew more than he did. Shouldn't he be giving me a discount for being the more knowedgeable party? Ignore my spelling. lol
This may be the wrong place to say so, but for all the ragging on the vzw reps I've read about here, the ones at the store I've visited have been helpful and polite even if they only have the corporate answers we have grown tired of hearing. I'd allowed an update on my rooted D1, and a year later took it because I finally had time to visit a store. Pretty much no questions asked, the rep asked me if I'd like a replacement phone sent to me next day. Good experiences w/ vzw so far. Just wish we could get some info on this damn phone!!!

A 12/15 release would be stupid, most people are done shopping for the holidays by then. It would leave 9 days before Christmas, now I'm no mathematician but I think you'd sell more units in 15 days than in 9.
