it worked!!! i believe this is the only rooting method that can root an unrooted motorola gingerbread phone without a two-part install from clockwork. now you will not have to buy the tbh app to run the new cyanogenmod on the gingerbread kernel! i will post everything tonight for yall. btw, the red motorola logo with the new cyanogenmod is awesome

Awesome! I'm definitely glad it worked. I'm kinda glad it wasn't available when I first flashed to GB, though, because if it were, I doubt I would have ever tried CM7.

That one guy on mydroidworld where P3 was talking about it this morning,he even used it to root his Droid X with Gb,its sort of like the Atrix root.thats good to see,now someone will maybe take gingerbreak and exploit it for this for a easy step.

Dammitt Jackpot! You are making it difficult to stay true to GB!!. LMAO! I may have to try CM again now. Thanks for all your work!!!:icon_ banana:


P.S. Jackpot, does this mean I can now flash CM7 from my TBH GB and then if I want to, restore nandroid backups that are either CM or GB without needing to flash again???

Yeah you can have CM7 and then do a full restore back to stock GB and vice versa. If you want to restore just your data from a previous CM7 build if you flash a new zip however, you must go an advanced restore and choose just the data. You can't mingle a stock GB data with a CM7 system or vice versa or else you will bootloop hope this helps

I use easy tether for the wired usb cable and the regular google tether for wireless all works good,2.07 works best for me

Mkay, Jackpot, first sign of trouble, for me anyways. I made a Nandroid of TBHGB, cleared system,data,cache, factory format and installed your latest CM. I forgot to install GApps so I rebooted and installed GApps, no problem. When it booted back up, my keyboard no worky. When I go to setup my Google Account and click Sign In button, I get the following message: Slide keyboard open to continue. Can't type anything therefore unable to setup Google Account which means no contacts.....roh roh. Thanks.

PS - I tried press/hold menu to see if I could get the on-screen keyboard to come up and no dice.

PPS - Hardware keyboard works fine If I bypass the "setup" and just do like a search from one of the homescreens..

PPPS - I installed the TouchPal apk to see if I could use that. Still getting...Slide keyboard to continue.

UPDATE - I'm in business. I installed this, even newer version of GAPPS and was able to setup Google Account without the "Slide keyboard to continue message." Weird since the one I had installed while ago was the same version I had installed the last time I tried CM7.

Camera force-closes

Battery life - Not too good so far, but its only been a few hours (update: unplugged at 5AM Central @ 100% will update later on....

Theme resets after reboot

Alternate keyboards not working (TouchPal, HTC IME)

Word predictions sometimes pop-up only after whole word is typed and I can see a white line under the suggestions box like if the on-screen keyboard buttons are all squished under there..weird.

Wifi works great. However, when I disable it, 3G icons pops up, turns green, but browser wont work until I turn wifi back on.
