If you're not on an unlimited data plan, which she is, would be great. Still doesn't help her. Sure device would work great as wifi only, but she can't get internet at her house. She has the DirecTV att unlimited cell phone which doesn't allow hotspot access.

I had to dig into what you said and after reading the fine print you are right. I did not realize ATT prohibits wifi use with that plan.

Get the AT&T Unlimited Plan

Thanks for pointing that out because that scraps my idea of using your phone's built in hotspot if att doesn't allow that.

You are correct on both. AT&T and T-Mobile (or at least when I had them) have it blocked. It didn't work for either carrier in my attempts. It's been a couple of years since I was on T-Mobile but AT&T still has it blocked I can confirm.
