I thought it could be the case as well, which I removed and still had the same problem.

And to those saying its the best sound quality ever, remember I am talking about on the receiver end.

And, the reason I started to panic is because I googled the problem and it seems like everyone and their mother is having the exact same problem as I am to a T.

Other people have noticed the same problem with my calls as well. Very tinny, and not as clear as my enV. Regardless, the people on the other end can still hear me. And since I only use the phone to make actual calls 10% of the time, I'll deal.

I previously had an Env2. the call quality was better than the droid

Yes. Outgoing audio is very poor, and there is no real fix available.

Currently we had:
1. Re-programming (*228, 1 or 2)
2. Turn the call in volume lower
3. Flip speaker phone during the call
4. change Voice Codec to 13K or EVRC-B
5. Remove battery and power cycling the phone
WikiAnswers - Why does your cell phone have an echo and how do you fix it

Some helps a little bit, but still cannot solve the issue completely. If you try to call your landline or other phone and leave a message, you can find if your phone gets this problem.

This is only serious flaw I find for this lovely phone.

Finally, someone who is not ignoring the problem (yes I will agree the rest of the phone is awesome).

So in your opinion, would changing for a new droid be worth it, or do they all pretty much suffer from this poor outgoing voice quality?

BTW thanks for your answer

My Droid has great call quality even without the fix.

You might want to return yours for a replacement.

I recorded some sound using "voice recorder" from market. The recorded sound is muffeld, but not as bad as message recorded using answer machine.

It seems there is a problem in mic in some droid phones. I still need to verify this using my friend's phone.

Verified! Based on sound recorded from two droid phones, the muffled, low sound is from Microphone.

The best way is to have a replacement.

I'm curious to know if anyone who has replaced their Droid has gotten a new one with better sound?
