Hitting the search button took me to Android recovery, did I lose root?

Possible. Do a factory reset and hit reboot system now and see if you get past the M.

What is your recommendation on rooting? Re-try the one click or go a different route?

edit: wiped cache and data in android recovery and still stuck on the M

If you wanna keep it simple, I recommend z4root. Excellent app!

Still stuck on the M logo after wiping data/cache in Android Recovery. Waiting for the sbf to finish downloading. I'll flash that through RSD Lite then give z4root a shot.

When trying to flash in RSD Lite I get: Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization values from INI file.

Agree. What is your current status? If you hit the search and you got data what caused that?

In order to flash the sbf I think I actually need to be able to get into the phone which I can't right now. Wiping the data/cache and rebooting did not get me past it though so far.

Have you pulled the battery? If not do so. Wait for a few minutes and reinsert and try to boot into recovery

You're in the bootloader when using RSD, right? (Power + down on D-Pad)

What version of RSD are you on? Double check the sbf to make sure its the right file.
