All of us Droid X'ers were super stoked when Android 2.2 actually rolled out last month, but with the good there has been some bad. Motorola announced today on their support forum about some known issues that certain X users might have. According to Matt's post on the Motorola forum "These issues are not common, but if you experience them, know that a fix is on the way.

Here's the list below:

  • Stuck on Moto logo after reboot – this was tough on a very few owners. Sorry about that. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release. If you are still experiencing this issue, click here.
  • Random rebooting – while there always seem to be new conditions that can cause an electronic device to panic, we do have improvements coming that address and eliminate identified panic states. They will be distributed in a future software release.
  • WiFi connection and stability – improvements in WiFi have been developed, to address several problem areas. They will be distributed in a future software release.
  • Battery Manager “force close” errors – under some circumstances, pressing the battery icon under Menu > Settings > Battery Manager results in a forced close error. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release.
  • Media won’t play – includes “sorry the player does not support this type of audio file," custom ringtone stop working, video won’t play, etc. A reboot will restore full media function, but not permanently. We believe we have identified the cause of these errors. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release.

Music files cutting off the final four seconds or so – a solution has been developed. It will be distributed in a future software release.

What's weird for me is I've had the leaked 2.2 since it was first out. I never experienced any of those problems. AFTER the Official OTA 2.2 came out, my phone started doing EVERYTHING on that list and it does it DAILY. I never switched from the leaked 2.2 to the OTA 2.2 and I been wondering recently wtf is going with my phone. This is such a strange coincedence because I don't want my phone crashing on me. Also my battery has been really crappy lately and I haven't been doing anything different on it.

Sucks..... and I wish their "future software release" wouldn't be so general and they could give us a better tba date

They (moto) should have spent the resources testing for bugs rather than changing the bootloader signature like they did. No doubt that's the cause of the delayed release.

Motos mixup gives the android operating system a black eye to potentially new customers.

I've yet to experience any of those issues. I used the 2.2 OTA update for a while and am now on Rubix .5 Either way, never had any of the issues except for maybe the wifi issue. though I never had it disconnect and reconnect, I have noticed only when I'm downloading large files that it will freeze. Refreshing a page in the browser gets it going again, but never had it actually kick me off wifi.

Back in NYC 4 good!!!
I have experienced all of these issues. Mostly I am having issues with the Monday logo and my music player not supporting the files on my phone. The sad part is I have to completely reboot the phone to clear this issue. I also have a problem with playing youtube videos when the music player is acting up. I hope they address these problems soon.

Are these updates for just the droid x or will it be released for the incredible and the droid 2? I have had a couple of those problems on my device as well and i know that other D2 other owners have experienced similar problems as well. So is this a wide release ota update for everyone with froyo 2.2?

I have the OTA 2.2 with Root. I have experienced two of the issues personally(Wifi & Audio Play). I can tell you the Wifi issue on my 2GEN iTouch is far worse and Apple thinks its just fine. One good reason I will not be buying an iPhone and stick with my superior Droid X.

I have to run my X wifi "static" at home or the signal goes in and out when another wifi device is doing DHCP. Seems like they would release a patch for the issues and not make us wait for a full OS release. The new OS better come soon or Moto is going to have a black eye. just sayin.
