Who's planning on getting the Droid Turbo?

Will the SIM from my droid RAZR MAXX work with the turbo?

Anyone know?

No. The two use SIM cards of different sizes (RAZR MAXX: Micro-SIM, Turbo: Nano-SIM), so the card from the RAZR MAXX won't work in Turbo unless you cut it down. There are tools out there that will allow you to cut it, but there are potential issues that come with doing that (such as the SIM catching inside the phone if the edges aren't completely smoothed out - which can cause damage). Then, if you should happen to want to use it in the RAZR MAXX again (or in another phone that takes a Micro-SIM), you'll need an adapter.

The easiest thing to do if you're not planning on jumping back and forth between the two is to just get a new SIM card that fits. If you're with Verizon, go to a corporate store and they'll give you one for free (authorized retailers often charge a fee).

So as you see, we have some pretty knowledgeable people around here and we all work together for everyones' benefits. Thanks guys.

Something I recently learned.. You can activate simcards on your account.. And switch the active simcard via my Verizon. Like if you have a Nano Sim, and another sim. You can activate one, then activate the other.. And vice versa..

Really? I was told that once you get a new SIM, the old one is defunct. If you're right this means I can flip-flop back and forth between my phones without ever removing the SIM cards, but just getting multiple SIM cards... Hmmmmm.

All I will want to do is to use the new turbo with my unlimited plan. I don't fully understand what is on the SIM card. If it is info about me/my verizon account, how will a new SIM card handed to me at the verizon store work?

I'm guessing the SIM would download my info when I activate the new phone, correct?

Thanks guys!

I was told the same thing after it didn't work when I tried to do it previously. If true, it's a relatively new change.

Verizon will scan the new SIM into their system, associate it with your account, and then put it in your phone. It might take a few minutes to activate, but they'll make sure it gets up and running before you leave the store. It's an easy process. I've done it several times. :)

I thought so too.. But I found out when I went from the g3 to my Maxx... They reused my Sim in the Maxx...This was just last weekend..

Remember how you used to dial *287 and go through the prompts?? With this.. You go into my Verizon and you manually enter the Sim number.. It has to be previously associated with that number, or a fresh new Sim. But yes, they just put the number from my old Maxx Sim into the blank and in 30 Seconds it was getting 4g.

It was in "device" I didn't look further.. But yes.. I too, thought.. Well now I can actively swap between devices without pulling sims

Yes, when you get the new phone, you can do one of two things...

One: You can take the SIM in your existing phone and if it's already a Nano SIM, you can simply put it into the new phone and power up. Or, if it's a Micro SIM, you can either cut it to Nano as mentioned, or get a new Nano SIM free at the Verizon Phone Center Store. When they give you that new SIM, you want to make sure it's for the phone number which has your Unlimited Data plan already on it.

Two: You can get a new SIM, and again make sure it's for the phone number with Unlimited.

Sure enough. I just spoke to the Verizon tech and she walked me through the screens to do it. WOW! SO COOL! Now I can have multiple phones, multiple SIMs and only have to go online to change them. Gone is the need to pull and swap. Gone is the need to find that pin device to insert into the phone and eject the SIM drawer. Gone is the possibility of dropping and losing either the SIM or the SIM drawer.

This was what our Vzw rep told us as well when we purchased our S5s. Of course it's not uncommon for them to have the wrong info, I'll have to see if my old one still works in my old device. [emoji106]

S5 tap'n

That's a great change indeed. Thanks for the info!
