The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

Wow. Real busy at work today, so I just spent about a good hour trying to catch up on this thread, seeing what's going on. There are a couple things I would like to touch on

1. I hate to say it this way, but I told you, ALL of you lol. (@just4747 - *fist bump*)

I knew this phone wouldn't release Friday. I STILL stand by that. It won't. I don't mean to be a downer about this because I really want the phone, probably worse than most of you all. It's really frustrating, but I knew when Friday was posted as the "official/confirmed" release date without any word from Verizon, it WAS NOT going to happen.

Which brings me to my next point - WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND DECIDED TO CALL FRIDAY THE *OFFICIAL* RELEASE DATE? I mean really...come on...I even asked the same question in another thread because I thought I may have missed I here, and they said yes - Friday is the official/confirmed release date. My reply - BS, no it isn't.

2. I find your passion to contact regional presidents admirable, but they don't care how you feel about the release of a phone that they haven't officially given a date for yet. However, I would love to hear what they say if you get to speak with them.

3. Thanks a million to whoever convinced me to blow my money on this LivingSocial deal that I won't get to use in time (hopefully the phone releases this month so I can use it). But I know for 100% certain that I won't be using it unless it is for the purchase of the Galaxy Nexus or related accessories. So I'm either gonna have to sell the thing or say bye-bye to my money.

If this post sounded like negative poo-poo, I apologize, but it was all factual, and sometime being realistic can sound negative.

Either way, I'm over-the-top frustrated by this. I really hope the Galaxy Nexus drops this month, but I have to admit, I'm not buying into anyone's "official/confirmed" release dates until I see the phone listed on Verizon's webpage, see it in the store, or get word from VZW itself.

I figure at this point we are either waiting on one of two things....

a new OTA update to be ready and waiting for roll out as phones are activated to fix a newly discovered problem

A problem external to the device itself that they are trying to correct that would effect performance of the device when (4G network issues)

Ay anytime we could all go back and delete posts to take away Truss's 3000th post, let's hold that over his head and gain power of the forum.

BTW this was a joke, people did this just to get the 2,000th post and now someone is doing it to get the 3,000th post. Newsflash: Getting a certain number post doesn't make you cool and you certainly don't win anything.

Might be some truth in it. Think about it from their perspective. Do you really want to sell, say, 1000 new galaxy nexus on friday when you know you're then going to get 800 phone calls because their brand new 4g phone doesn't connect to the 4g network and is reporting a sim card error? If this is what delayed it, then maybe they'll just release it as soon as the lte network issue is cleared up.

And from what I've been reading/hearing, I doubt that'll be anytime soon. I had a charge for about 10 days. 4g wasn't reliable. It was wicked fast and sweet, and also a pain to get it back on and stay. I spent more time fighting to keep the 4g on... I really hope the Nexus doesn't have the same problem. I don't really relish the idea of having a 4g "enabled" phone, but stuck using only the 3g because it's actually reliable.

#1000 "Ninja Status"

I thought long about this comment, as it is a huge milestone. Here it is-

"Not even Verizon Wireless can convince me of a release date."

I don't think it's the "standard" 4G issues that is holding this up... they are having crappier than usual 4G problems right now (have been for the last 24-48 hours). Once they get this little issue wrapped up, I think we will see the release of the device.

I am not sure if this is relevant at all but p3droid had to give back his nexus and LTE galaxy pad 10.1 and is not allowed to post about release dates and new hardware anymore. Somebody ignored his NDA...

My D1 is dying and whining about being old and it even told me to just take it out back and put it out of it's misery today. All this Nexus talk is almost making me hate the phone (ALMOST).

They should just release it anyways even with 4g issues. I mean, are they going to temporarily halt sales on the razr or other 4g devices because they are having issues with 4g? No, they will probably sell them and just tell the people they are having 4g issues at the moment if they say anything at all. Probably not a great reason though, as I just want the phone to release.

yep and he and his cronies are blaming all of us for it too. I used to defend him for things but no longer......
