The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

maybe the review was simply overlooking the bugs since it was a test device and the reviewer knew a majority of the buggyness would be fixed before the phone was released to the market? Question is why was the lte phone buggy while the eu phone seemed fine - barring the hilarious volume machine spirit.
thus why i have a hard time believing the bugs existed. and the lte and connection problems other 4g devices have been experiencing was specifically mentioned and reviewed and said to be perfect also.
if you do a review and dont mention problems because you think they will be fixed than you shouldnt review.
2011 car has a bad battery that explodes but it will be fixed in the 2011 1/2 release so i wont mention it. this just doesnt make sense.
just food for thought what i said is bothersome to me and will be taken into my mind in the future.

what i find funny and strange is.....
that a certain review was nothing but praise without 1 complaint of a bug.
but now the same reviewer is saying were lucky we didnt get that bug ridden piece of junk.
to me this shows as inside hype and now rage control for verizon.
how can the same person say its perfect than a month later tell us well it wasnt but now it is and be credible.
while i believe the inside info is probably as accurate as is known at the time. it is telling to me that there is some
underhanded publicity work going on here.
it also probably shows that the inside info is accurate , but accurate as to what verizon wants us to know at the time.
am i far off or does this seem off kilter to anyone else.

could it be that the bugs were hidden? maybe the volume bug or whatever bugs didnt pop up when the person used the phone. it certainly did not show in the oct 17/18 announcement.

the volume bug is the only bug we have heard about in the overseas version. and that bug has not been reproduced on the phone on att or tmobile (unlocked versions) so it seemed to be a uk frequency thing.
we already know they release buggy phones and updates that have obvious bugs that are found in 1 minute. so for hidden bugs to stop a release that must be infrequent is hard for me to ponder.
But anyways my thoughts were just the first statement going back and forth with what ifs isnt really worthwhile since they are just opinion as my first statement was. was just a thought as i was sitting here reading nexus complaints on vzwsupport.

you have a good point there. it could have taken a long time to make the new phone be able to fit the bigger battery. i mean it is .55mm (around) thicker.

Yes, I've been saying this the whole time ever since reviews for the G-Nex started. Most of them said it's "the best Android phone ever" and then contradicted their statements with the review. I stopped having faith in the reviewers that did this because how is it the best Android phone ever if they didn't like certain aspects of the device? Now the best Android OS I would have accepted but they said phone which means they were impressed with every aspect of the phone but their reviews didn't show the phone was better than the SGSII. Like I said before, I'm getting this phone and I'll be the judge of how it suits me and how I think it performs as everyone should. Some of the reviews did the G-Nex no justice when put up to the SGSII but was still called "the best Android phone ever", how? Let's say it had Gingerbread, would it still be the best Android phone ever or just another Android phone? I think ICS is the best thing going for the G-Nex, I'm personally fine with the specs it blows my OG out of the water so it's still a big step up from what I'm coming from but someone who has a SGSII may not think so. I say take the review for what it's worth but don't hold faith in it as some people may be disappointed and some might be blown away. Only time will tell how great this phone is going to do against other phone once they get ICS. Me though, I like not having any UI skins, having an unlockable bootloader and freedom of the device so the G-Nex is right up my ally even if it turns out not to be the best Android phone out once other devices start seeing ICS. The point is everyone's different and you can't knock it until you try it.

I agree with you. If they are doing the review overlooking the buggy OS then you're failing as a reviewer. If they want to toss in there "yea its got bugs x, y, and z, but they should be fixed on the final hardware version" that's fine but to omit them entirely seems odd, if they actually were there to begin with.

Check out this thread: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...volume-problem-fix-rolling-out-next-week.html

But it's already rolling out now.

I'm in! Take 35 all the way to Minneapolis and pick me up!

Haha, the phone will (hopefully) be available to buy by the time we got there.

There has got to be at least on person following this thread that lives in that area that can go check it out so we can live vicariously through them....

OMG I was going to go to NYC to see the tree and have dinner tonight!! AHHHH I need to go grovel to my fiancee if we can make a pitstop

She's not the wife yet and you are already having to grovel? You may want to re-evaluate your decision! ;)
