Rediculously Low Memory Issues?

So I've recently installed Miui, love it, but am having problems with how much memory it takes up.

With only a few programs installed (much much less than previous Roms), it can really only handle one program at a time without killing the others. In fact, I can't switch from the Music app to messaging without it killing the Music app for example.

Another example is that sometimes there isn't even enough memory to open the keyboard (Swiftkey).

Again, I'm sure it's not my third party apps. I've stripped it down to almost the basics that other ROMs have not problem running.

Any thoughts? Using the most recent build.

Thanks - Chris

Chris, the only thing I would suggest is to look at how you have been restoring your programs after flashing. Are you using a Titanium back up? Astro? Are you restore data in all apps? If I were you, I would reboot into Clockwork recovery and do a full wipe. I mean, go into partitions menu and format, boot, data, cache, system, and sd ext. then reflash the newest MIUI and then reinstall all your apps manually. Restore system in certain apps that need it. Not all of them. This could be corrupting your Rom. Also look into how your syncing contacts. Sometimes there could be multiple contacts stacked on top of each other causing your system to appear to be full. Full of duplicated contacts.

Hope you find your solution. Good luck

what are those apps cause there is one in particular that i can think of that would cause that issue

The only thing I can think of is moving some of your apps to the SDcard to save on internal memory. Or if it is the virtual memory, you might have to clear the dalvik cache, or run a cache cleaner to free up the memory.... or as stated earlier, do a full wipe and re install the latest ROM.

I have restored just about all my apps through the market, and only the data etc.

I am not talking about space on the internal drive, nor the SD card either, I'm talking about when I go to settings, Development, Running Services, it shows at most between 5-9MB of memory available. Under "Other" it shows 132 MB used in 5.

Previously, I always had between 40-60 available with more running.

3rd Party Apps that I have on the phone:

Facebook (I know this one uses a decent amount, but always have used it).
Swiftkey Keyboard
Scorecenter
Voice
Gentel Alarm
Agenda Widget
MotoTorch
Tit. Backup
Talk
NHL Gamecenter
Skyfire
Opera Mini
Rom Manager
Chase
Gmote

I'd rather not have to do another wipe, but I will try it if I have to.

Thanks again guys.

Chris
