I was running the pathsaver script from 5.8.894.
All I can suggest would be to use the cdt.bin file from the 5.8.894 leak the same way I outlined earlier....instead of the one from the 5.9.901 OTA

worked for me. Thanks man. But since we flashed the .901 cdt does that mean we are technically not completly stock?
No you are still stock, and able to install future OTAs

Wow, it seems to me that alot of people are having issues with this. I never installed fastboot. Maybe that's causing problems? I just used this manual method 2 nights ago and worked great for me.

Well it seems plausible now bionics with the leaked 5.7.893 update can now get back to stock. Afterwards they then can install the 5.5.893 OTA and the new .901

Information is in this thread: Getting back on the OTA update path - RootzWiki few people are claiming success. I haven't tried this. I have been following this thread for the last few hours waiting for others to claim that it is sucessful.

Steps it seems to me is:

1. Restore back to .886 then option 1 to forever root.

2. Install the original stock modem in stock recovery http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21566851/Phone/radio.zip

3. While rooted and usb debugging on, install this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54323236/5T0ck886.rar

After step 3 some people could no longer boot and then did step 1 again

4. The 5.5.893 OTA would now install successfully

As a novice who has updated my OG Droid and Droid Bionic using the simple methods of copying files to the SDcard but never rooted my phone, would really appreciate some advice from you experts.

I have some basic questions:

1 - seems like some people have experienced issues such as a boot loop, is this operation too risky for a NOOB like myself to attempt? (the next questions may answer that for you haha)
2 - it says make sure USB mode is charge only, isn't that something you select after you connect your phone and if so, how does your program transfer files to the phone if it is in charge only mode?
3 - Am I supposed to boot up into fastboot mode before connecting to the PC?

Thanks for your patience :)

OK, everything went OK so far, but I might be stuck, I have the icon of a triangle with a question mark in it and a little green android. It's been stuck there for 10-15 mins and the CMD is stuck at *daemon started successfully*. At this point, am I supposed to disconnect the USB and manually install 5.5.896? If so, how do I go about this? I am pasting the CMD sequence below:
