My File Manager on my Alcatel Dawn phone looks way different now and my phone is performing slower. Was this an update or do I have some sort of virus?

Welcome to the Forum. . It's hard to say it an update changed the design of that app, or not? I'm not familiar with that phone and what the File Manager app may have looked like previously. Do you remember clicking OK (or something similar) to install a new software update recently?

Hi there. I'm sorry I don't remember clicking anything. It just appeared overnight but it looks suspicious to me.

Did you have a File Manager app before yesterday? The app itself just appeared overnight? Or the new design appeared overnight?

you don't have to click anything for most updates. did you restart the phone? if not, give that a try.
That all depends on the update. If it was a System Update, or Android OS update you would have to click. If it was an app update it all depends on how the Play Store app is setup... automatic app updates or manual app updates. Some have their Play Store app set to automatically update apps and some have it set to only notify them of an update then they manually click to apply the update.

I always had a file manager . It just looks way different now and has features it normally never had. Maybe I'm being paranoid. I don't know.

It was probably an app update, and you may have your Play Store app setup to perform Automatic app updates
