That's great! If I for one were to display my true emotion about that news, You all would question my sobreity! I love this phone and I love the possibilities that are ahead for us all with this open source os. Just in the short time that I've owned the (Droooiiiiiid) I've had such a great experience with both Google and Motorola that I've already eclipsed any that I had with winmo. In fact just last night I received my replacement battery door (shim included) and am blown away how fast they acted on our issue and had the new one fed exed to my door.

Wait a second... where did I miss the whole battery door fix? I took a very slim piece of cardboard for a shim and put it under the cover... which has fixed it... but I didn't see an "official" fix to this issue. I apologize if I'm being redundant, but I hadn't seen it in the forums.

Zack
x2 where did i miss this also???

The fixed doors are just a hair or two thicker, and slide on tighter. They were given out for free on verizons website. Up to three per account.

Awesome, thanks for the info. The shim I put in mine has worked great; it hasn't popped open once yet since putting it in. However, if they make an "official" fix to this with the replacements, I might as well at least get those too.

Thanks again

Zack

I fixed mine myself, i just bent the metal tabs a little bit and it doesnt slide out or pop off like it did before.

Yep, until every person decided to order three and sell them on ebay. Then the rest of us were left in the dark.

Verizon doesn't have them right now... and I had to run through a gauntlet of questions to get Motorola to send me one. I only wanted ONE!

I am reasonably sure the new doors are no different. The difference is the gray pad on the inside of the door that is stuck on. That is thicker. They mustve originally though thte door would be fine, but in testing it wasn't so they fixed it with that pad. When that pad wasn't good enough they made a thicker one.

Some people are finding this solution eventually loosens or just isn't firm enough of a closure for their tastes. My solution works much better. The only drawback is that it could be looked at as closing too tightly! It takes some work to open it up now. Just take two small pieces of electrical tape and place them side by side on the battery towards the top (towards the camera when installed) so that the non stick side will make contact with the inside of the battery door cover when closed. That's it.

OK... Info from my wife's Aunt who's been w/ VZW 20+yrs and a Tech Supervisor I actually spoke with is saying this... 2.1 will start rolling out on Friday 1-22-9 to appx. 5,000 customers then the 23rd next 20,000 customers then on the 24th everyone should have this update. It should take about 15-20 min to update once you receive. Hope this helps:icon_ banana::icon_ banana:!!

Nice, im glad we have an official date.

sweet...i hope we can do our manual update a little bit before that. can't wait.

question...if i upgraded to the home launcher and gallery for 2.1. should i uninstall those first before i update to 2.1? or it doesn't matter?

I believe if you have any 2.1 apps installed they should be left alone or updated if a newer version is available on the new firmware.

That said, just to play it safe I would personally remove any 2.1 installed apps so they are upgraded properly, espcially if you see 2 versions of the app such as the 2.0.1 gallery and the 2.1 gallery both on your phone.

:motdroidhoriz::motdroidhoriz:Verizon will begin pushing 2.1 upgrade to Moto Droid phones on 1/17/10 if not sooner. That's exclusive information from a Senior IT Tech. I'm certain my info is 99.99% accurate just wait and see!

ok :icon_eek: it's the 17th hello!! lol
