I heard from a guy, who knows someone whose best friends sister's cousin works for a contractor that designed part of the code for 2.1. They had a contact inside Verizon (who shall, of course, remain nameless) that said that she dated a guy who was related to one of the Project Managers in Google, who was in a meeting with all the other Project Managers when the main Project manager for the 2.1 OS project updated everyone on the release scedule for 2.1 for the Droid. According to the source, that date is.........

....Sorry, was listening to this update on an iPhone on the AT&T network, and the call dropped. My bad.

Hopefully they'll call back on my Droid.

omfg LOL!! :rofl3:

Thank you for saying "hilarious" and not "hysterical."

I got a system update notice when I woke up this morning. But it wasn't 2.1 or even 2.02.

Here's my phone info:
Firmware Version: 2.0.1
Baseband Version: C_01.3E.01P
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-omap1-g0dd7e0b
Android-build@apa26 #511
Build Number: ESD56

Saw on another post some original 2.0.1 OTA's got a bad facebook app or something. So I believe that what you just got, the fix for facebook.

Got the same OTA this AM; same phone info results. Droid owner since Dec13. I'll check to see if anything's different w/the FB app but hadn't noticed any problems previously.

My phone went through the same thing this morning. Previously I was having some issues downloading a facebook app. I tried it again after reading your post and it finally downloaded. The only other thing I noticed was my notification ringtone turned back on to the Droid sound. I had it set to no notification.

Thanks again for all the great info... really everyone contributes. Thanks.

That update happened to me last night at about 11 pm central time. Although, I didn't think it had anything to do with facebook because shortly before I received the update my facebook app started working with notifications out of nowhere. It was really weird, but I dunno.

The Motorola replacement battery door didn't work for me - the door started sliding off within a week of using it.

Just add a tad more thickness to the pad on the back of the door.
Cut a piece of a plastic card similar to a credit card, or anything that is plastic and slippery... some have even used folded paper, but I would rather want something a little more permanent.

So, can we expect 2.1 when we wake up in the morning????

i hope so! but i doubt it. im sure we will see it within the week. most of us towards the end of that week. but hey. who knows right? since verizon wont actually post a real date.

what if 2.1 or even a 2.02 update never came. lol like it was all a big hoax.

boo.

*think positive thoughts*

bring on the update! im a ready! :motdroidvert::motdroidvert::motdroidvert:alll the way baby!!!

i'd be thrilled to see 2.1 starting to roll out tonight. i am also curious what the "official" change log would be given there will be additional improvements to 2.1 that are specific to the Droid in the same manner 2.0.1 offered some additional improvements.

I would prefer it rolled tonight/tomorrow instead of during the week. That way I'll have the day to figure out what's not working and set everything up... Luckily I don't have to many apps butt I can imagine some people are going to be screwed.

Everyone leave out cookies and milk for the Update Fairy:icon_ banana:??

I doubt it. I think if it was true someone would have been talking about it already, considering it's 2am Eastern here. Also, it always seems to be the LATER dates that are correct...the early ones are just people bing anxious. I do wish it was today as well, but I am going to call this myth BUSTED!

The update probably only fixes root. At least, that's what I'd guess given that the version number hasn't changed at all.

Could be they are doing some other 'small' update to prep certain phones for the actual 2.1 push. Or maybe doing some firmware/bootloader update for earlier phones.
