The way the update is described is very similar to the way 2.0.1 was released. Usually I don't put much stock in "Someone I know who works for Verizon says" statements, but I have a gut feeling that this is exactly what will happen. Some lucky people will get it tomorrow, and then more as they go along, finally everyone getting it by 1/22.

Verizon launched an update for the Blackberry Storm on a Sunday at 10:00pm EST. Sunday has nothing to do with update releases.

I got a system update notice when I woke up this morning. But it wasn't 2.1 or even 2.02.

Here's my phone info:
Firmware Version: 2.0.1

When I selected "update now," the screens went through the same sequence as when I got 2.0.1.

Thoughts? Did I get hacked?

I know how to uninstall the applications you can "see" like the 2.1 gallery and news widget but how do you uninstall the 2.1 launcher?

Saw on another post some original 2.0.1 OTA's got a bad facebook app or something. So I believe that what you just got, the fix for facebook.

Weird, I got the same thing. Droid owner for 1 week now.

I get those periodically, and they are all for the apps that I downloaded. I don't expect to see 2.1 before the end of the month, to be honest. Actually as far as 2.1 goes, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get it until March or so..... just my thought.

Got the same OTA this AM; same phone info results. Droid owner since Dec13. I'll check to see if anything's different w/the FB app but hadn't noticed any problems previously.

I heard from a guy, who knows someone whose best friends sister's cousin works for a contractor that designed part of the code for 2.1. They had a contact inside Verizon (who shall, of course, remain nameless) that said that she dated a guy who was related to one of the Project Managers in Google, who was in a meeting with all the other Project Managers when the main Project manager for the 2.1 OS project updated everyone on the release scedule for 2.1 for the Droid. According to the source, that date is.........
