One of the most exciting announcements that has kind of slipped under everyone's radar from Mobile World Congress was an announcement made by Motorola. They unveiled all kinds of new Moto Mods! New Moto Mods include an Alexa Mod, Gamepad Mod, and a Wireless Charging Mod. Dan Dery Motorola's head of Moto Mods stressed the commitment to Moto Mods for the foreseeable future. The Alexa Mod works as a dock bringing always-on listening and a speaker to answer questions. They even announced a new accessory to charge your mods. There is nothing worse than getting ready to use a mod and it is dead. Their are apparently also several mods in the prototype stage including a portable printer, multi-SIM card holder, and a robot building kit for kids. It's great to see Motorola continue to progress on the only truly usable modular system in smartphones.

The key with these mods is making the Price right. Spending hundreds is not really worth it even though you are paying for convenience.

NOW moto just needs to find a way to license the ability to mod your phone to others... i.e. samsung, htc LG.... setup some kind of deal where they're allowed to use the same connections and find a way to make the mods compatible between multiple devices.

That probably won't ever happen, these mods are pretty nice though. I may have to look at moto again next time I upgrade.

This is another one of those rumored possible new Moto Mods, apparently shown off in Hong Kong recently. Anyone interested in a tablet style dock for their Moto Z? Doesn't look like the old Atrix / Bionic lapdock that didn't sell so well; there's no keyboard in these rumored / leaked pictures. If the price was right I would probably by one.

So the point of this dock without keyboard is watching videos?
Moto should have partnered with auto industry for that...plug in phone in car dock and stream videos to rear seats.

Basically looks like it turns the Moto Z into a Lenovo Yoga Tablet. if the Price is Right and the Specs are decent (Resolution) I would Consider it since it would make for a nicely powerful Tablet.

I've been saying since the beginning a DSLR Mod would be Awesome. The question will be what Lenses company will be compatible or Proprietary.
