Gonna build cyanogenmod 7 for the pro

Does Droid Overclock do this too? I figured it would be a good way to downscale the processor when the phone's not in use in order to save battery

I can only assume it does since SetCPU probably can't tell when the screen is off and since Screebl is the same way, it's probably a setting somewhere that needs to be fixed in CM7.

Hmm.. I don't have access to the Pro at this moment, but does anyone know if Tasker has trouble telling if the screen is off?

I was messing with the Cyanogenmod settings and I believe that setCPU is now working as its supposed to. I have set a profile to run 300/300 with screen off and for the last 3 hours or so 9pm-12am, I have left the phone with the screen off for quite a bit and the phone shows a current "time in state" of approx 85% at 300mhz.

I also run the phone at 800max/300min all the time so.......

What'd you change to get it to work? Mine wasn't showing 300mhz at all even though I had a screen off setting.

Here are my settings currently under Cyanogenmod > Display:

Automatic Backlight
Light Sensor Filter
Enabled : yes
Window Length : 30s
Reset Threshold : Disabled
Sample Interval : 1s

Light Levels
Use Custom : no (left unchecked)
Allow Light Decrease : enabled (checked)
Decrease Hysterisis : 50%

At this time, after 1d 0h 8m 32s on battery, setCPU reports 95% "time in state" at 300MHz. Nice. I usually use the phone much more but I have been testing this screen off profile and it has worked for me. I hope those settings make sense.

I ended up flashing back last night to rooted gingerbread, but i'll be willing to go back to CM7 for further testing once a new build comes out. I wish you could just switch back and forth, but unfortunately you can't.

Can't swap between backups?

Moto's gingerbread build updates the kernel and radio from froyo if I'm not mistaken. This is why its a little more difficult to switch between OS versions with a locked bootloader.

Hey Jackpot Calvin,

I wonder if you could put the source and toolchain somewhere. I am unsure (never cooked a ROM before) but I'm pretty good at Linux stuff (patching, building, automating, scripting stuff) and probably can give a hand in building and fixing the ROM.

:-)

I just installed Smart Keyboard Providence on my Pro and the keyboard shows up in landscape mode as well as has working text prediction for the hardware keyboard. Nice. Still can't use the recorder button on my keyboard though :(

update: I just noticed that my Pro typed Providence instead of Pro. Hahaha. The prediction works but needs learning.

sorry for the delay guys, i have been working on cm7 trying to get the camera inversion fixed but have had no success and the guys building cm7 for the droid 2 global have had the same inversion issue with no resolution. the camera issue is my main priority right now. i believe i have a workaround for the proximity sensor using source from cm7 for the moto defy and the phone dock wrong orientation has a quick fix i will put into the next build if i can get the camera inversion fixed. as far as i know, cm7's text input app does not support suggestions on the hard keyboard so the only thing i can say is look for another keyboard on the market (i use smart keyboard pro and swear by it), the screebl and setcpu screen off bugs i honestly don't know how to go about fixing but will look into it and as for gsm, i will try to make a build just for just gsm this weekend that you guys can try to test to see if it works and report back to me what's wrong with it as i have no way of testing it
