Gonna build cyanogenmod 7 for the pro

k guys heres my alpha build: cyanogen_venus2-ota-eng.jonathan.zip it is a direct port of the droid x by cvpcs. i'd like to thank cvpcs, koush, and cyanogenmod and tbh for the help and guidance. you should make a clockwork backup of whatever version youre running and then you gotta sbf back to 2.26.60. if you bootloop on the initial reboot, pull the battery and reinsert it while pressing r+m+power and wipe data and cache then reboot. you should reactivate your phone when it prompts you to do so. after the long 2.26.60 start up process, you should root (i use z4root), then install droid 2/x bootstrapper and reboot into recovery. after you boot into clockwork, go to mounts and storage and wipe system, data, and cache. the go back to the initial screen and select choose zip from sd card and install the zip i posted.

JackpotClavin,

If I loaded CyanogenMod from 2.26.60 instead of 2.26.20, will it affect anything in terms of the rom? Your post on page 5 stated to be on 2.26.60 before updating so I was a little confused on whether or not to take the 2.26.60 OTA after sbf'ing to 2.26.20. I ended up taking the OTA, then rooting and installing CyanogenMod. Does it matter if I did it this way?

I have also found a fix for the bootanimation. Simply downloading the CDMA Hero's (I'm sure GSM would work fine too) most recent build of CyanogenMod and pulling the bootanimation from system/media seems to be a perfect replacement for the oversized one that came with the Alpha. If you decide to do this dont forget to change the bootanimation.zip persmissions in system/media to rw-r--r--

Edit: I made the corrected size bootanimation.zip available for download from my dropbox account. Simply download the file, and replace the bootanimation.zip file in system/media with adb or root explorer (or a similar application). As I said before, make sure to change the new bootanimation.zip persmissions in system/media to rw-r--r-- after overwriting the original. The download link is below.

Correctly Sized bootanimation.zip

haha thanks patmw but i already modified the bootanimation to 320x320 but never put it into a build :P as for the backlight issue and keyboard issue, my newest build fixed that but made the screen rotation off by 90 degrees. if you only use the physical keyboard to type and keep the auto screen rotation off, this build should be for you. i was able to add my yahoo account to the email app so i'm guessing it works unlike the last build. i'll post it in a few

do not install clockwork mod! press the power button as if you were to power the phone off, then choose reboot, the select recovery. go to mounts and storage and wipe just system, the install 627m.zip from sdcard

called it 627 for the date, nothing special

lol no youre good at 2.26.60. if something ever happens to your phone and you have to sbf, you can just sbf to 2.26.60 no need to go to the 2.26.20 then upgrade partner

Glad to see Keyboard and Soft Key backlights working. Good resized boot animation as well :P Awesome progress! Can't wait til the Camera is fixed too

Is this a stansalone file or do I need to load the original first?

Judging by the size of the file its a standalone build. Also, he stated to format system. This wouldn't be the case if it was just a small update.
