Froyo is NOT coming for Fascinate

I'm hearing something similar about other Droid/Android phones. That would be bad news for the D1 though.
Please don't speculate
For God's sake, we've been going crazy for an official OTA update since literally SEPTEMBER or maybe OCTOBER 2010, (5 months), so please, don't post any more speculation unless you are prepared to post links or cite exact (and reliable) sources for your info.
I do not need to get excited over this, now a Gingerbread rumor. For all we know, Sammy could literally give up on 3G devices altogether, in favor of promoting their new-buzz 4G Galaxy S devices. Either idea is POSSIBLE, but both are at this point unsubstanciated, which leaves us at square-one, which is wasted time and frustration. With that in mind, let's post reliable info (as soon as any might surface,) with sources please.

When getting another replacement fascinate the other day the Verizon cs rep looked up 2.2 in her computer and said it told her they started sending it out ota on Feb 3rd. I told her noone has got it and that I go on the forums also and she said that's all it told her no further Info was available

LOL ya. This was cs over the phone not in store. I asked her why of said that but noone has it and she just said no notes were posted but that on the 3rd

I am a vzw csr. I would love to know where she saw that. VZW tells us next to nothing that cannot be found in these forums already. The only advance info we get on new products for instance is an online course maybe a day or two before it is viewable on the vzw website. That is usually a few days after a product announcement. A VZW employee in marketing, engineering etc will know the future but not us CSR folks. Look at it this way. There are like five thousand of us. How could they possibly give any real secret info to that many people and expect it to stay a secret ? They know they cannot so they do not.
Updates for a device can be viewed in the product guide along with the upgrade notes. As of yesterday I saw nothing about an update being rolled out for the Fascinate.
I have a droid X. Works flawlessly. Wife had to have the Fascinate. I endorsed it as the hardware was up to the X's specs and the screen rez and virtual KB were superior. I balked at the 2.1 but figured it wouldn't matter all that much as my son's previous D1 was a great phone and the Fascinate was due to get the 2.2 update.... okay , please stop laughing. Then came the little quirks of the Fascinate. Like no audio output via usb. Okay so heck with the oem ca rdock I will just use a digital audio cable and a generic mount . Nope, can't use the headphone jack and the mic at the same time. Music stops just fine, the caller can be heard just fine. Problem is they can't hear her. So she has to unplug the digital audio cable to be heard on a call if she is listening to music on the phone. Okay so I tell her to use her bt headset for calls. Guess what ? Still cannot be heard with the the digital cable plugged in. Then there is the need to download a program just so my pc's can see the dang thing. Just as I get that figured out along comes an update that kills that fix and ruins the battery life. I think I have the battery life thing handled as it appears the update(or maybe my wife
) set the screen brightness to high. There are also two, that's right two programs that when used together allow one to mount the sd card after the update. Now I am reading there may be an issue with usb charging by sources other than the wall charger. I could have convinced her to get an X or an incredible. I saw no reason to so I did not. I now want to kick myself in the face. Good thing I can not.

Ya I have no idea that's just what the lady told me. IV asked to be traded out for a different phone and they said no. So I said to them. . You would rather send me a replacement phone every week then just trading me out for a different phone that doesn't have issues and they said yes. So I keep calling and getting new phones.
