It is all media that played a big part in the demise of the Note 7. iPhone's had the same issue. Since the media is not putting it out there like they did the Note 7 people are not acting in fear with the iPhone 6 and 7's like they did with the Note 7. iPhone catches on fire on a plane , No ban, catches on fire in someones home no recall, catches on fire on a persons pocket, No recall and no news report's. As I said before. My phone got hot once and the safety measures kicked in and it shut down. No issues with my Note 7 and I know many others that are not having any issues with there phones. If my Pixel was not going to come next week, I will still be happy and and feel safe with this phone until I got the next phone.

Just stop with the "it's the media!!...big mean media" stuff.... Samsung declared the device unsafe... no one else! They did the recall... they admitted there is a dangerous issue!
Yes other manufacturers have seen fires and battery issues and none of them felt the need to label their devices unsafe and recall them.
    Those are facts people!

I guess we have to disagree on this one. Yes Samsung recalled it. The media played a big part in the fear it caused. Why haven't the media done the same with Apple?

Umm... hmmm... maybe because Apple hasn't set up an entire webpage stating their device is dangerous... unsafe... and should be powered down immediately!
    maybe???

Samsung voluntarily issues a recall because they thought it best business practice. If other manufacturers that have the same problems decide not to voluntarily issue a recall doesn't mean that their product is safe. It only means they decided not to issue a recall. Manufacturers knowingly allow a dangerously defective item remain in consumers hands and continue to sell them for as long as possible before a recall is forced on them. It happens more offered than not.

How about I do have a recall on exploding airbags and Ford won't replace them because the parts are on backorder. Have been for years. I haven't died.

I'll buy a note 7 and use it daily. There were a couple issues with some. Media blew it out and Samsung had to react. Can this topic die now?

PC747, this one of mine is sort of pearl grey but always in a black ruberized case so I tend to forget it's true color.

That was proven false. The guy was a fireman. Insurance fraud on that one. The jeep fire was not causeed by the Note 7 also. It was mods he did on in the jeep.

If the article I read that Samsung identified the problem with the case being too thin to allow normal battery expansion for the included battery was true would make sense that Samsung would want the now beginning to age batteries out of the wild. Also as noted the thinness could also explain problems with Apples now aging iPhone 6. It is way past time for the thinness to stop at least until a totally different device takes the cell phone's place.

Every day I use my S7 I am reminded that I now pay Verizon $35 a month for a phone I never wanted because I was forced (mostly) to give up a phone I loved and would have kept for at least as long as the Note 4 it replaced. Makes me want to cry... or would if Pepe was not so cool!
