Need help with Ultimate Droid Update....

So i am trying to update to v8 of ultimate droid but and i downloaded the file from the mirror didnt unzip it put it on the root of the sdcard and everytime i try to install i get and error it says E:cant verify signature (or something close)....i have looked this issue up and it has alot to do with the name i think...however the error that DOESNT show up is the one that says cant find sdcard/update.zip or whatever....i have renamed the file soooo many times and i am still not getting anywhere at all :/ please help!!

It's better to post this in the V8 thread....

but to answer your issue.....

Browse to your sdcard with your phone plugged into your pc.... look for the file called update.zip

most likely it's being renamed as update.zip.zip

if so rename in to update.zip on yoru card itself or on your pc as just update

with some windows machines you can't see the extension on the file unless you set your folder options, so in some cases people are adding an extra .zip to the name.

Specifically what comes up is

P.S. NO where on here was it saying it couldnt find the file.......

right click the update.zip and check out the name in properties. i thought i had mine named properly too but i didnt.

Renaming it with astro on the droid? what is that?
and i checked the properties and the complete file name is update.zip
and i have dl it 3 times now once off the direct and twice off the mirror

What are you updating from? And do you have the latest version of sprecovery?

And Astro is a file manager app. It allows you to see all the files on your droid. I use it all the time since I do all my mods from the phone, I'm too lazy to mess with file transfers.

sprecovery comes after you run the root upate.zip. You can't install ROMs with update.zips until you are rooted and running sprecovery. if you want to get to the fun stuff ( installing ROMs ) quickly, go to droidmod.org and download dmupdater to your phone. It roots and installs sprecovery for you, very simple. After that installing ROMs is a piece of cake and we'd be more than happy to help you with that. Just so you know even though you use dmupdater you do not have to run their ROM. It's just a quick way to get past the more tedious stuff.

If you want the Ultimate Droid V8 ROM, then you need to answer yes to voiding the warranty...
