What process are you using to root?

That's the guide I'm using...I just want to root because I just want to overclock that is all.

read my post above yours, that rom is stock with root, you can overclock with it.

Very strange, if you have SPRecovery, if d/ling the file again doesn't help, I'd say try a differnt Rom, sorry

Where can I get a different ROM for just simply rooting my Droid? my droid isn't even rooted yet :\

Here you go It's as it says Virgin Untouched, but it is rooted
[ROM STABLE] Android 2.2 FRF84B (Clean, Untouched, Virgin)
Download from OP
rename to update.zip
put on root of sdcard
reboot recovery
make a backup (if you haven't already)
wipe data factory reset x2
wipe cache partition x2
install
allow
install
reboot

rename the file to update.zip NOT update.zip.zip

He says he already has SPR so it should be as simple as installing an update.zip of a rooted Rom through recovery.

Yes that is my thought but the process he used suggested that damn droid-ESE81-update-2.zip. Therefore, I thought the process Christim developed may be easier.

Like you, one he had SPR installed I would just had downloaded an update.zip rom and flashed.
