Help! 3G Mobile Network won't connect!

Hi i just got a droid yesterday it is the htc incredible and my dad says it comes with internet so i went to settings and clicked the option mobile network and all it says is "turning on" and it wont work..i tried restarting..it wont then i tried taking out the battery for 30 seconds and it still wont work. I dont want to factory restart it so is there a better way for this to work?

Have you tried calling your mobile provider and confirming that the phone is configured properly on their system?
