I've had this D2G for about a month and a half.
Initial battery life was disappointing, and I would have to recharge every night, sometimes more often if I used it much.
I just got back from 2 weeks in Europe, where battery life got worse, so I more aggressively turned down the data settings. I think the last thing I did was switch to "maximum battery saver".
Back in the states now, and battery life is better (although still sad compared to previous non-android phone).
I charged it yesterday morning, used it a little throughout the day, did not charge overnight, used it a while this morn reading news and this forum, and battery is noww at 60%.

First with the D2G I would go in to settings, wireless and networks, mobile network and then change the network type from global to CDMA only. The d2g is locked out from using the local GSM networks in the US. You don't need global radio turned on in the US just over seas. I'm not to sure about the situation in Hawaii or Alaska though.

I'm curious, did Verizon charge you for the new battery, or make you return the entire phone?

I think I might be suffering from the same battery issues as some of the above users, but I don't want to fight my way through Verizon's customer service reps if I have to return my entire phone.

If youre within your thirty days and havent returned the phone once yet then theyll take it back and give you another one if you already have returned it once then you need to go through the insurance. If i were you i would switch batteries with the wife to confirm its the battery and not the phone then go from there

This is not accurate at all. It would be a warranty issue not insurance.

Very good idea switching batteries though.

This is what I did to greatly improve battery life on Fission ROM with D2G...

I was about to give up on the D2G as a daily user since the battery life I was getting was much worse than the D2. I somehow managed to greatly improve the battery life.

I did the next 3 things at the same time so I am sure some helped more than others.

Install the SIM card fix from FRM
    Set radio to CMDA/EvDo Auto
Used SetCPU to set clock at 1GHz

Then I "conditioned" my battery with the following steps

Charged phone completely with outlet, not usb
    Wiped battery stats in recovery
Let battery drain all the way down till phone powered off
    Fully recharged battery.

My batttery life has been greatly improved since then and now I feel more comfortable using the D2G has daily phone [IMG]

My battery life was horrible at the start but now is so better. Here is what I did
    Get an extended battery
    Root my phone
Install launcher pro -- paid version
    Freeze all bloatware

Battery now lasts at least 24 hours

Eventually I will change to a different ROM

    Hope this helps you

my battery does the same. the main thing that takes up my battery the most is the android OS.. ive tired uninstalling apps that i never use, i turned the brightness down all the way ive charged my phone all night and all day. then i unplugged it for at least 30 min, and the battery dropped down to 50% just like that. I didnt even use the phone, well to make one 2 min phone call, but other than that i didnt use it. I turned off my wifi and bluetooth bc i wasnt using it and thought that would help. ive closed all apps that was running and still nothing. i let my phone die all the way and thought that might help. still waiting for it to fully charge. any suggestions if tht doesnt work? & ive only had this phone for 3 days.
