Does an almost full /system hurt performance?

As the title says, I have 2.22MB free in my /system folder. I've searched around but haven't found anything definitive on this. My main question is does this hurt my performance? I have my SD card partitioned and apps2sd enabled and have moved most of my apps to the SD card. Everything seems to be working well but I just wanted to be sure I shouldn't try and eliminate some apps in the /system folder. I am not using swap on the SD as I had read that it will actually slow down the droid. Is the standard swap using the /system folder? Tons of questions I know but I'm just trying to be proactive and keep my phone humming along. Any information would be great. Thanks!!

(btw, awesome rom Koush!)

Yeah kinda what I was thinking. I mean I squeezed the ROM and the theme in there but just wanted to make sure there was no other "bad" things that were going to happen because my /system was so full. Anyone else?
