This has been the worst update I have ever had on all my phones. I got the Christmas Eve OTA (the mistake) and it was more stable than the final build. I had none of these issues on the erroneous OTA. This update appears to be messing with critical things on the phones - signal, battery, wifi. I could see an app wigging out after the change but not basic functions necessary for the device to work properly. I would like to get a fix for these issues pushed out, but what are they going to break in the process of fixing a few things? I think most of us are finally getting a handle on the stuff. Took forever! My signal was the one thing I could always count on to be strong and stable and apparently that is no longer the case. The work around is doing okay for me so it will work, but we should not have to jump through all these hoops to make an authorized, OTA update work. I am probably expecting way too much huh lol.

I am happy your device is once again working properly! Keeping fingers crossed that it remains so.

I think their plan is to get us to buy their newest phone! I'm getting good battery life. I'm glad I started this thread, learned a lot from you great members.

I am definitely glad you started it! I think a lot of people found fixes for problems in this thread. My battery life was great yesterday! Almost back to being my old beloved Maxx!

Their little subliminal message to buy a new phone is not gonna work with me lol. This one is not even a year old yet. And sure don't want to lose my unlimited data!

Exactly. Mine is over a year and running strong. And I'm not willing to lose my unlimited data either!

OH no lol I was not clear lol. Its been off the charger since 11 last night. So that really isn't bad! Of course I don't talk much in the middle of the night. But its been active since 5 AM which is when my day is going full swing. So that is six hours when its not doing anything but looking pretty. I am not charging tonight. Wanna see how long it will go.

Here is something weird. I have WiFi off, GPS off (including Locations) all animation and local update of weather off in Beautiful Widgets..but my batt says WiFi is running?

<img src="http://www.droidforums.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=61682"/>

I suddenly developed this same problem. WiFi shows on all the time even when it's off.
Any luck fixing it GotnFX? It started after disabling stock gallery, and chrome. Re-enabled......no luck.....still shows WiFi on all night long.

I did 2 FDRs.. yeah I know it sucks. Then I reflashed JB OTA using Matt's Utility

I wasn't patient enough to see if the 2 FDRs resolved it or not. It may have but reflashed anyway just to make sure it wasn't something on the OTA OS I had in my phone..then I reestablished root using the utility. Option 1 and 3.

Guess I'm doing that this weekend. Thanks for the quick reply!

No problem and good luck. Again, I'm not sure if the 2 FDRs cleared it but I was also having bounces between 3/4G which was something I never experienced before OTA and so I just decide to reflash..still get some bounces..but not as much and I'll live with it for now.

So after going through all of this media trouble and getting it fixed, last night my phone really took a turn for the worse! 25% random battery drops, and
My screen randomly flashes whenever it feels necessary. So phone still works I don't want to lose unlimited data and I really don't want to upgrade.
Well one of the kids phones is due for upgrade so I know I can transfer that to my phone. So I figured I'd sleep on it and due a meter calibration and see how that goes. Well I turned it on this morning and took my son to the pro football hall of fame. Phone had 2 random battery drops in 4 hours and just about every time I checked for calls or texts the screen was flashing. So on the way home I stopped by Verizon and walked in with full intentions of getting a Maxx hd. I told the representative my problems, and he said your warranty just expired 20 days ago let me see what I can do. I just thought I'm screwed! He came back and told me I could pay 7 dollars a month and keep it under the manufacturer warranty! So I'm doing that keeping unlimited data and I should have a replacement tomorrow! I have never had this good of an experience with Verizon and just thought I would share it! My phone still works but it's on its last leg. If it was a car it would have 500000 miles on it. This experience today has given me a whole new perspective on Verizon.
