I don't have the usual 4g disappears, but instead of 15-20mbps I'm only getting 2-5. I don't tether and use maybe 6-10 gb a month, not a crazy amount . Is it just more ppl on the network ?

Interesting my old fascinate runs about 15 mbps on wifi n the tbolt only pulls around 5, is it just the bolt ?

I'm running the botched gb ota on the bolt n crusty old froyo on the fascinate, any ideas?

VZW supposedly throttles if you go over 5GB a month on a regular basis, so that could be the case. Wifi speeds should be the same on both devices.

I thought 4g devices wet exempt from throttling, and really don't get the wifi difference

Eh that's what they say but my wife's tbolt seems a tad slower. She uses Pandora and youtube everyday at work for 5-8 hours. As far as the WiFi, maybe it could be an encryption or channel issue with your tbolt???

Mine also is slower loading web pages even on 4g but on 3g it takes forever.. and u can see the dropoff in my back log of speed test but u can notice it while surfing the web. I'm using about 7 or 8 gigs a month on average... That 2gb statistic is straight BS!

I personally don't think you were throttled. As you said in the O.P. - more users now than a few months ago taking the same bandwidth from you.

I am. On 4g and 3g. I use a bit over 2gb per month on average. I have some old results saved from speed test ap and it looks like my speed has been cut roughly in half on both 3g and 4g

I average about 2gb a, month and 4g varies between 4MB and 20 MB, usually about 10. What I do find tho is on 3g in areas with high population, 3g is ridiculously slow and getting worse since the iPhone came to Verizon. There are times when 200k is average on 3g when is used to always be over 1mb.

I think 4g is fast now, but when all devices end up 4g and when Apple finally does something revolutionary and gets to 4g they will slow down. That is unless Verizon has a method to up bandwidth in high population areas.

I do a lot, but I use PDANET and frequent 7-8 gigs a month :icon_eek:

most of the time the speed is fine. I can play Netflix on my PC and watch YouTube videos without any buffering. But sometimes the speed just completely goes away and it'll take forever just to open a web page...

there's also no 4g in my area yet; this is all on 3g still

What are you guys using as a testing platform to identify the throttling? I use between 10 and 20 gigs a month total between Mobile Hotspot and free Easy Tether. This is all via 3g no LTE here yet.

Since I do pay the monthly fee I would like to see if I'm being throttled.

Regarding whether I "notice" anything? that's hard to tell. Sometimes everything runs smooth with various devices connected and other timed I end up getting stuck on a Craigslist page forever with one device attached

I've been using speedtest.net app and was averaging about 16 mbps on 4g and 1.6 on 3g. Now I'm getting between 3 and 5on 4g and .5 or less on 3g
