Very nice video from The Verge explaining the differences and improvements on this Wear OS update, check it out

I still not sure if we will actually get it on our old smartwatches like my original Huawei Watch released on September 2015 but let's just hope we will. ;)

    Cheers

That video is the second or third time I have seen this called "the 2.1 update". Which makes more sense than "the new 2.0". Who knows which is true. I still haven't seen anything definitive on whether this will come as a Wear OS app update (some sites claim) or a System Version update (some sites claim). Way to make things confusing Google.

I bet it won't come has a system version update since that would require Huawei involvement, which I doubt it since the hardware is more than 3 years old. This is why I belive I will never get this new features shown in the video.

The Moto 360 Gen 2 watches (like mine) are getting pretty old also, and Moto stated they are done with watches a few years ago. But I thought Google said all 2.0 compatible watches will get this new update? If so, you should get it if your watch is already on 2.0

MY WIFE JUST GOT THE NEW VERSION OF WEAR! MY WIFE JUST GOT THE NEW VERSION OF WEAR!!!

She's got a...a...Fossil Q Venture. I came in the kitchen & she says "I've got all kinds of updates..."

I'm attaching her version numbers. Looks like it IS Wear 2.0, so they're kinda circling back on themselves here. Based on Android 8.0 now too.

Her battery is almost dead, so she snatched it away from me to charge it after I got pics of the version numbers.[IMG][IMG]

Thanks Jonny. Nice to know this is a real update and not just "tech reporters" getting something from Google to write about. Was it an Android Wear / Wear OS app update or an old fashioned System Version update?

I can definitely see Google rolling back to Wear OS version numbers. How else to we know what we have now, and what is newer? I think the whole "remove version numbers" idea was a good idea, but confusing for most users.

That smartwatch was launched on 6-2017. Not surprised it got a firmware update. What about the older watches, did anyone at Google really stated they were being updated as well?
    Cheers

It looks to me like the "Home App" version is what the OS version of the watch software used to be, because that number seems upgraded from what mine said the other day & they've added the section for Wear OS Version number.

I didn't think to ask her about how the update came. I'll report back in a bit if she understands my question & can explain what happened. Haha

The best info I can find is this article that claims that google confirmed that anyone who got Android Wear 2.0 will get this update & goes on to list the devices that won't get it.

I guess the numbering kinda makes sense now. I don't remember them referring to Wear OS version 1 being what it was called when Wear OS replaced Android Wear. I guess I just assumed it was a name change & the version numbers would carry on.

What's weird to me is that I feel like my watch wasn't supposed to get the change to Wear OS when that happened, along with several others. But now, all of a sudden, some of these older watches are getting Wear 2.0? Maybe I'm remembering wrong...[IMG]

Update: she says she got a notification that said, "Please tap to update & restart (or something like that)" so it sounds to me more like a system update on the watch.
