All I know is the update appears to have again messed with some of my settings. Google REALLY insists that I not keep my watchface always on, and that it alerts me when the battery is below 40%.

I mean, c'mon. It's bad enough you revert some of the settings, at all. But when you do it every update and then start updating more frequently...I start to get angry.

I have not had any Wear OS updates change any watch Settings in a long time. That has to be frustrating.

Not that I have ever seen or heard of with a Wear OS / Android Wear watch. Maybe some manufacturers build that into their specific watch, but I don't think it's built into stock Android Wear. Then again, changing Settings with an app update is not normal, so Settings backup is probably not needed for everyone. Something strange is happening with his watch / phone to cause this quite often. The more I have thought about it, none of my three AW watches have ever had any Settings randomly change by updating the system version, the OS or the Wear OS app. At least not that I remember.

That is one advantage Samsung tizen has over wear. you would think wear would have that ability.

Advantage? I'm not sure why that would be needed. Settings shouldn't change on their own. And if I need to factory restmy watch I don't want any Settings automatically restored, that may re-introduce whatever issue caused the factory reset.

I guess there could be some benefit to that. But....Wear OS itself doesn't have a backup feature

I saw something in the What's New section about "improved Google Play Music". Anyone seen anything different? I haven't yet and use Play Music every day in my daily drive to & from work. I do use my watch as my music controller, skip track, etc.and haven't seen anything different yet. I also remember seeing something the What's New about "improved Google Pay notification". Has anyone with a Wear OS watch seen these new features? Using them?

We used to be the absolute best Forum on the whole web when it came to Android Wear. Let's get back to that standard.

Android Wear development and product launches seem to be stalled. This thread is just a reflex of this.

It seems new watch releases are taking longer and there really haven't been any major changes when there is a release.

Because many companies stopped making Android Wear watches. And the chip uses for them hasn't changed in over three years, so they all pretty much run the same & get the same battery life. Rumor has it that this year will be the first Pixel watch (or watches) and will be the first new Wear OS watch chip since the original AW watch ~ the LG G Watch. If true, that could change things; we need some new internal hardware to make these things better.
