thats what i was thinking i saw one for 179 that was refurbished but i thought that was a little to much but close to what im might pay for a play phone

Just look on craigslist for a phone. I'm sure you can pick up a used one for cheap there.

STEVESKI, that's about the worst advice you can give anybody. I can't tell you the number of people who have bought from Craigslist and then come into the forum and tell us the can't activate them because they have a bad ESN.

eBay with PayPal is a much better alternative.

thanks guys i dont want to activate it tho just play with it haha trying to broadin my root capabilities

Yep, OG Droid. Or, I'm not sure what used DX's are going for, but if you got a DX you could learn how to mod your every day phone with ease!

I understand your point, but seriously who buys a phone without verifying the ESN?
I bought my husband's phone on Craigs and just last month I bought a month old IPHONE 4 off Craigs -my conditions- bring original receipt(which showed serial number, original box, meet at a Verizon and wait with me while I activate the phone then after everything is done then and only then did I hand over any cash.
I did the same with my Blackberry and three month old Droid X, in my Craigslist ad I insisted that buyers meet me at Verizon and either activate and/or verify good ESN with Verizon rep before they gave me any money..

not a phone but i would say grab a nook color and go to town. Lots of options and solid design, just lacking a bit in the hardware specs. Either that or my vote rests with others suggestions of the og droid or an inc.......or a NEXUS:)

the new nexus will probably be my next phone but im interested to see what type of agreement google/carriers/manufacturers can reach on the whole "android fragmentation" issue. Im pretty hopeful that google is gonna kick these other parties into check and force a clean android option for ALL phones in the future
