Screen protector

Well If you guys dont wanna buy a screen protector, i just use packaging tape. You place it over the screen so so its longer than the phone and razer blade around the edges and it fits perfectly. like maybe 4 mm too small for the edges, but thats the boarder of the screen. The actual part that is used is covered. I have had no response problems either and the air bubbles are gone with in the first week. No one can even tell I have one. Its perfect.

But... What will you do when it gets scratched? It won't just peel off, it'll have to be removed strip by painfully thin strip. (I've peeled lots of packing tape off of lots of things in my time in a warehouse). That packaging tape is easier to scratch/scrape/damage than the actual glass on your phone. You took a step BACKWARDS.

Also, I have to disagree harasho. I've used the VZW brand screen protectors on 4 different touch screen phones over the last 2 years, and have NEVER had an issue with sensitivity. The ONLY zagg I've ever installed for anyone (and this was last week) was more difficult to install than a dry protector, left an orange peel like finish when dry, even though it was installed properly, and affected the way my finger slid across the screen, AND the phone's response to it.

harasho said:
for clarification: a protector like that at Verizon, or a cheap one that comes in packs of three, yes there honestly is a noticeable difference in sensitivity, but with a more expensive, thinner, non plastic protector, there still is a loss, but not a very noticeable one.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you work for zagg. :icon_eek: Just kidding.. But seriously, the part I bolded gives me pause; Anyone who has ever touched a zagg can tell you that they are EASILY two to three times thicker than a standard dry application screen protector. Also, the non-plastic material that zaggs are made out of? It's less optically correct, and makes the screen look blurry.

Well actually, my "free" Screen protector already ripped because I was wrestling this kid and his button on his jeans scraped my phone. No damage to the phone, and only make the take loose. Not like a hole in it. So I took it off. No residue on it at all. I did run it under water though, just incase and reapplied the tape. My last phone/ipod gets scrapped on my keys and fingernails or dropping it. I know they say Ipods cant get scraped by that, but it happened to me. So this works way better. And you can replace it. Here is a video. Except I literally just put it on. I tried water, but it seemed to look worse then without. Its your preference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbP7K-rMh7U&feature=related]YouTube - How To Avoid Cell Phone Scratches

I say again. Your tape is easier to mess up than that glass.

The glass on that phone is almost indestructible. The tape you're using is way softer and prone to being messed up than the screen itself. Also, you RAN YOUR PHONE UNDER WATER? REALLY?

But so is a normal screen protector. I mean they all arent as strong as the glass. The only thing is this one doesn't cost anything. Im just trying to help people by saving them $$ haha. Glass can scratch, but its permanent, unlike the tape. So thats why i recommend it to ppl. Also, It doesnt show fingerprints on the screen as glass would. So it also looks nice and cleaner. I also haven't had any touch screen problems. It always responds.

Anything to do with reef tanks can and will dissolve gorilla glass. (OK, dramatic yes,) but glass will never win against reef. If you live close to the ocean, that sand, can and will pulverise the glass (yes, over statement.) Aragonite is nasty stuff, and is found in large quantities by the Caribbeans as well. Don't shell hunt and drop your droid rofl.

That is pretty clever. My daughter used tape to preserve a puzzle. It actually works well. Polymer is polymer, though the tackiness of the tape makes me think it would be a royal pain to remove once damaged.

[h=1]Should I get the RAZR MAXX Screen Protector Steinheil Ultra Series Ultra Crystal or Ultra Fine? Pros/Cons Please![/h]

The guy who sold mine pulled his phone out and ran car keys over it. Not a scratch on it. Does that for people to show the tuffness of gorilla glass. No protection on it

Sent from my DROID RAZR using DroidForums

I think you should look into Amazon for screen protectors, I got one there for a fairly decent price. It will arrive on friday, and then I will know more details on how it would protect my screen
