HELP!!

Try rooting your phone with pete's motorola rooting tool. I had great success with this method.
Use fxz file with rsd lite 5.5 to get stock .886 file.
Factory reset.
Root with Pete's tool.
Dhacker released 4ever root select option (3)
Then snag the official 5.7.893 update. (Radio/battery fixes). and there you have it.
While your at it, go ahead and smack that purity2.3 base on your machine of machines. And there are optional 2.5pahx with various ui. I'm Loving It....
Big up's to the devs

Once you've gone to 5.7.893, fxz and Pete's aren't going to work anymore. The radio and kernel are updated and can't be changed back due to the locked bootloader.

Thats a good thing to know... hope i never need either... lol... knock on wood!

My new Droid Bionic is on its way. I am not a newbie to flashing ROM's or rooting, but I do have a question or 2 when it comes to using the root methods listed for the Bionic:
  • Do I need Bootstrap Recovery as well?
  • Do I need ClockworkMod/Rom Manager as well?
Thanks!

Bootstrap for the first flash yes, some roms have bootstrap built in so you dont have to run it, just hold the power button and recovery is an option.
Best way I have found to flash CWM is through RM, so to answer your question yes.

Great. So, in order of process, I install root using the methods in this thread, then add Bootstrap?

Edit: Nevermind, I found detailed instructions on phandroid!

Thanks!

am completely stock .886. After a lot of research, I decided that I want to root in order to freeze some of the Verizon pre-installed bloat with Titanium back-up and to be able to use other root required apps like PS3 Sixaxis Controller app. I don't plan on installing any custom ROMs, as I'm happy with stock moto one for now.

If I root using "option #2" of the R3L3AS3DRoot and 43V3R root, will I be able to retain the official OTA update path as long as I don't install/update anything via cheesecakeV2.apk or any custom ROMs?

Thanks for the quick reply! :hail:

Looks like I'm going to be entering the world of root then. dancedroid

It wont root my phone.

Run root app as admin, keeps saying its not a valid command when i try to run option 2. So i run option 1, it wiped/formatted it, then tried to root same issue as option 2. If i dont run it as admin, it says starting daemon server thing, and just gets stuck there. Ill post pic up soon. Anyone else run into this?
