Questions before I upgrade

My Samsung galaxy nexus went swimming and is dead...bummer. Looking at note for upgrade.

Can I use an app for turning my phone into a hotspot without rooting?

What are the pros and cons of this phone? I already see the battery life is improved. I don't mind the bigger size.

Thanks

Foxfi works on the note 2 (from what others had said, I didn't pay the $7 yet).

The only negative is the size of the phone, and most people have said they are acquainted with the size after a few days.

Pros:

-Screen size
-Battery life, talking all day on a charge here!
-super fast, no lag
-if you register now, you get half off accessories for your phone from Samsung.com, think this ends really soon.
-much more but it's almost 5am!

Cons:

-some people believe the phone is super slick and requires a case, personal preference!

Return of the Android

I use a paid app in the rare instance I need tethering, it works fine.

Pros for the device:
Very smooth processing
Video looks awesome
Speaker is quite loud
Larger screen makes for more pleasant Web surfing
Multi view is great when needed
Good call quality and signal

Cons:
Can't add apps to multi view unless you either root and install the hack, or you modify the apps yourself.

Foxfi has issues the free version works for 30 mins at a time and the paid version has issues working period.

Elixer2 widget uses the stock hotspot function and bypasses verizon authentication. Works great.
