OK, who's planning on upgrading to the Droid X

My AT&T contract is up on July 18th...6 days and counting. I intend on going into the store to play with one first before I get dead set on it. I'm a hands on kinda girl. So far though, it's looking like the pretty perfect droid for me. I dig the large screen size.

My inside man at a Verizon corporate store told me to call his cell# on Thursday morning at 8am and he will bill my account for a new X. I will be out of town til Thursday night running an Ice Cream Delivery route. The only downside is when he activates the X, my phone will quit working...oh well, all worth it in the end. I can live a day without my phone....I think.

I have pre-ordered an X from Best Buy and will be moving from a HTC INC to this device. I am now second guessing myself. Let's see.

I'm holding out for the Samsung Fascinate

Yeah, I'm thinking about buying a Droid X at Costco which apparently has a 90-day return policy, and switching to the Fascinate when it's available...that thing was rooted in no time...<3 Samsung for that. Motorola really trying hard to keep the Droid X from being rooted is getting very annoying.

Where @ Costco does it say you can do that? I would love to do that maybe. I'm not a big fan of Samsung anymore I just don't like there phones I had a Omnia... Anywho DROID X is rooted but no custom roms cause of locked loader

I called my local Costco to confirm and it's 30 days, not 90. Someone on droidxforums.com said it, but it's not true. Also, as someone else stated in reply to you before me, the Droid X has NOT been rooted and likely will not be for at least four months, according to Birdman; and there's a decent chance custom ROMs will never be around. F'ing Motorola. They're really pushing me towards the Galaxy S.

Maybe I'm just out of the loop, actually I think I am, but I'm not sure what you mean by rooted. Could you explain that to me please?

Also, from looking at an online comparison, the X is not much larger than the iphone 4 according to PC World.


ETA: I think the X utilizes the screen size much more efficiently than the iphone 4, which is a huge plus for me.

Not me (yet). I made the choice to get the new xbox 360 instead and dont have the cash for both
I love the Droid X, but my droid does everything it does and now finding it might not be modable because of the boot loader, I'm glad I made that choice..

This is why it's competition for the iPhone. Finally something comparable!

I like the DroidX but I just got my Droid in June (before I heard of the Droid X). Unless I find a free one, I will wait and see what's next. I think, though, I prefer the an actual keyboard. So far.

Free tethering, free wi-fi hot spot, advanced skin and UI customization, etc.

Although I am on Bugless Beast Froyo I always felt like the themes made my phone slower I bene rockin stock theme since the newest BBFroyo build. I could care less about the tethering and wifi hotspots. If i want customization I guess i could go with like launcher pro or something those apps were nice. All in All yea it sucks but I don't think it will keep me from grabbin the phone if I find one on Thursday

I have sung the curses of motoblur and the locked bootloader and the lack of keyboard many times....


That being said the microusb connector on my EnV2 needs to be held at an angle to charge now (started last week).... I think I'm getting a DroidX....

The screen size looks amazing for use as a GPS in the car and I got to hold a dummyphone my thumb can't quite reach the top far corner but can reach the corner of the side it's on.... think I can live with that.

I went in a few days ago and they had an activated X they let me play with after taking me into "the back room" lol. I'll be getting it for sure. WinMo just isnt doing it for me anymore.
