OK, who's planning on upgrading to the Droid X

I can't wait for this phone, my storm is a POS.

Whats better, to wait in line at the store or order online? I wanna get this the day of.

If you order online, can you pick it up in store that morning or is it shipped to you?

I had fully intended on it until it was announced it was a 4.3" and not a 4.1" like originally thought. It is going to be just a touch too big to handle comfortably with one hand. May change my mind when I can actually get one in hand. But right now my attention is towards the Samsung Galaxy.

And a side note. I am sure there is not gonna be a shortage of Incredibles for very long once pre-orders start for the X. I can see alot of canceled orders for the DI.

im tempted with the droid x but the Samsung Galaxy S is very intriguing, hummingbird, hummmmmmm, those are some fast flying birds!

I also think that the Super AMOLED will be pretty awesome. Why do they have to make it so hard on us.

If we keep waiting for the next best that was just announced there will be a better one announced right before the one before launches. What a vicious and expensive cycle!

if you order online you dont need to mess with the $100 rebate because its instant online, and you only pay taxes on $200 instead of $300.

I dont think you can pick up in store. But Verizon.com typically ships their phones next day via FEDEX some times 2days.

This is why I never buy the phones at the store and only go to the store to touch the phones to make sure I like it. Its also fun to quiz the sales reps on products. Some of them are spot on and some are clueless and make it up as they go.

+1 on the storm being a pos (hated that phone with a passion, some unlucky craiglister actually paid me for it, hehe)

Man, now I am reading that the X will most likely have a digitally signed bootloader making custom ROMs a long way off if at all.

Might well be that I would be satisfied with just a root (when that happens) and not ever want a custom ROM on the X. From what I have seen, it does everything I want but... who knows down the line. I have always been a fan of custom ROMs and tweaking my stuff.

Now I am wondering if I should cancel my X pre-order and just pick up a used Droid, root/ROM with with FroYo and then overclock it.

Benefits would be that a used droid is reletively cheap, there are already a ton of sweet ROMs and accessories for the Droid and I won't need a new contract. If needed/desired, I can always sign a contract later this year when the 2ghz/Gingerbread phones drop.

Downside will be that I want that sexy screen soooooo bad!

What to do!!!!!!

if there is a will, there will be a way to root and make custom roms. There are some brilliant modders/hackers in the android community.

i had every intention of switching until a couple of days ago...I was at the Verizon store and was talking to the rep about it. He reached under the counter with both hands and pulled the X out...for a second I thought I was looking at an Android Tablet! That thing is HUGE! I know on paper it doesn't seem like much, but next to my Droid, it was ginormous! It really disappointed me...I'm gladly staying with my Droid.

Lol, I'm 6'10"...so I hear it often! :p

It's just my opinion, but seriously, after holding it, it's just not the right size for a phone, almost unpocketable!

From what i've learned at working for VZW for 3 years as a Tech is "SAMSUNG PHONES SUCK ===D". They have so much issues with their other phone . All of'em, smart and dumb phones.

I would only own a Samsung LCD or PLASMA TV

But I guess you can say their AMOLED displays are sweet but I would wait till an HHTC comes out with a Samsung AMOLED disp instead cuz Samsungs hard and software sucks, for VZW anyhow. Just my 2 cents

So I went into my local Verizon store today to see if any of the employees had the new smartphone for me to oogle at. Unfortunately no, but in the process of talking to the rep I asked if they were going to be opening at 8 on the 15th and she said yes. She also told me that I could set up an appointment to get one. I had never heard of this but of course I obliged, so she sent me to a woman behind the desk and she asked what time I wanted to come in and how many Droid X's I wanted.

If this means anything as a "Pre-order" arrangement I don't know. I'm assuming if they ran out of phones before 8:00am (my appointment time) I would still be SOL.

Either way I am excited and its less than a week away!!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!

BiG FONES FTW!!!!

Just joined the forum. I am planning on upgrading from a Storm to the X on the 18th. I can upgrade and receive the extra $100 off. A hot sounding Russian woman should be calling me on the 18th to make the deal. Looking forward to getting rid of the Blackberry.

I will have to hold one before I decide, then I am going to try and hold out till Facinate comes out. Being able to see screen in sunlight would be really nice, especially when trying to use as camera. Now that I have rooted my Droid, I am not as antsy as I was. Probably would want to also wait till whichever one I decide on is well rooted!
