followed instructions and i got to the Apply ZIP Step and i got this error: assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/app/MyVerizon.apk", "bcd6b94bbadf6f986b9f6b7ab4392c1b4d9d7cbc", "223c429e61dd40072046c49f227b35457dae2ca1")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted

Edit: I tried formatting data/cache and then reformating cache partition. I got this error when i tried to apply the update..

assert failed: mount(ext3, "MTD", "system", "/system"")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted

HELP! D:

That first error is because it could not upgrade the MyVerizon.apk, did you freeze or remove that?

So you were/are on Gingerbread .181? Are you rooted?

If you deleted that file you will need the RAZR utility version 1.6 and restore to stock GB.

Let me know and I can help you further.

Spartan, this error has come up a few times before and was solved. Before you proceed, just to make sure we don't do something wrong, let me see if I can find the threads where this was solved.

So you deleted the file or just froze it? If you just froze it then defrost it and try again.

However if you deleted it then yes you will need the 1.6 Utility option 1.

Couple questions.

1. If you were stock GB, why did you not just take the OTA update from the Settings>About Phone>System Updates.

2. If you want to go the other route, I would follow this video.

Not really a question more of a suggestion.

If you did option 1 on utility 1.6 your system should be stock minus your programs. Did you wipe the cache and user data before trying this?

I tried again and this time it went through! Thanks for your assistance. Now I'll open a separate thread or search for one that will assist me in Rooting the dang thing haha.

Awesome glad you got it. RAZR Utility version 1.8 or 1.81 will root it.

help...

it is all started when i bought a razr off ebay. it came with 2.3.6 and system update recommended me to download 300mb something for ics update. updating process failed (rerun twice) so i stumbled here on this thread and encourage myself to sideload the ics using matt's 1.7.

the process halted with status 7 error (unable to assert lte.img or something) so i reboot and luckily it went back to 2.3.6. did it twice but stopped at the same error.

i noticed that the phone no longer have IMEI (it says unknown) and the baseband only shows CDMA without LTE on it (CDMA_N_05.11.01P). what should i do now? it is possibly that the previous owner did something to the pto thone and somehow lose the LTE baseband and this prevents me from getting ICS.

help me please. thanks.

I'm sure this has been answered (but there's 93 pages to read), what is the power control widget you're using? From the looks of it it lets you switch from 3G to 4G?

Updating from ICS to JB

Fully stock. Pulled OTA update that failed to install but keep getting this error when I try and recover from SD. Have wiped cache various times.

assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/bin/battd","b4552f25e022fdf6d3e2ec18a9f51f5548ea20b1","c7f821ff5aca3600e9f522e50988aebc40c8031c")
