New Droid with better keyboard?

Getting rid of the D-pad will allow for more spread out buttons, I personally think it was a waste of space putting it in there (that big at least). I had always thought that it would have been awesome if they had made the phone slide horizontally as well as vertically. Have it so the numbers can be where the d-pad currently so it can be quickly accessed either way. This way when its slid up when vertical we could have T9 input which make it much easier to text with one hand when you're on the go... but I would NEVER do that because its illegal to text and drive here in Washington ;)

Here's a slightly modified version with a trackball! Let's send this to Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha.

Too bad it's not as easy to build as it is to PS! Myself - I need the numerical keys also. I'd take that over a trackball or Dpad.

Motorola - Let's Git 'er Done! :) cuskit

Is the reason you don't like the current keyboard because all the keys are too close together and not enough of a gap? I don't seem to have any problems with the spacing....I did come over from a BB Tour though and the keys were tighter there than with a BB Curve....I guess its what you get used to. :motdroidhoriz:

There are 2 main reasons why I don't like the keyboard. One is because the layout of the keys are offset to the left from the natural way you hold the phone. This makes it pretty difficult (for me anyway) to hit the leftmost keys (q, w, a, s, z) as you text. The other reason is that the buttons are flat and don't have a natural responsive feel. When I had my Samsung i760, I never had as much problems hitting the wrong key. It was usually an issue of Windows Mobile not keeping up with my texting speed and skipping letters all the time.

Gotcha...I can see your point. :motdroidvert:
