How To: Root your Motorola DROID Bionic

i apologize if this has already been addressed, but has anyone encounter an issue with pete's one click root to where you are attempting to download the apps from the market and they're requiring a wi-fi connection? i rooted my phone after i got rid of my samsung charge for the bionic and the same apps i had on the charge i am attempting to bring to my bionic and they're now requiring a wi-fi connection.....

im pretty sure i read somewhere thats a feature of the newer market version.
total crap imo, who are they to decide how i use my data....

I did this(http://www.droidforums.net/forum/mo...901-update-thread-no-rooting-discussions.html). Now let the dumb questions begin! Where is the flashing neon sign that tells me that my bionic is rooted? Obviously, I've never rooted anything before, but have read until my eyes bleed, so I understand what it means to be rooted.
Are there any other steps that I need before I try to make changes?
Thanks in advance and please keep the answers as dumbed-down as possible.

Truly no such thing as a dumb question (unless you don't ask )...you can download the app "root checker" from the market or any app that requires root to see if it is granted root access...

WTF? How long does this rooting take? My cmd screen hasn't moved in 15 mins and my phone hasn't rebooted at all. Am I missing something?

After trying three different root Zips, I finally am rooted I think...Titanium Backup works, so I guess I'm rooted. Kinda anti-climatic. Thought there would be fireworks or nekkid ladies or something.

Yeah that would be a cool thing if the notification for being rooted would be some sort of explosion or some kinda dramatic splash screen.

Holy Cow... after days of trying various methods I finally got my Bionic rooted. with the forever root from rootwiki. Gotta love the Su status. not sure how to tell if the forever root stuck and will hold for the next OTA. The method did work on my phone with 5.5.893 (no prior root) OTB. I just can't seem to get the data from my SD card I took out from my Droid X. The apps on that SD card go back to the OG Droid days in 2009. anyway I'm happy to finally have my phone rooted again.

It doesn't survive the 893 OTA. You need to use the forever root method at rootswiki. rootzwiki dot com /topic/5484-r3l3as3droot-and-43v3r-root-for-the-bionic-v21/ It will survive the OTA update. If you use the one-click method like I did, it works fine for the 886 system but then your phone has to be reset to factory stock after the OTA to 893. Use option 1 in the script.
I'm glad I saw this--I am re-installing my paid-for apps on my 'newish' 5.5.893 Bionic right now, was about to fire up Pete's app, I'll do the forever-root instead

Someone please help me!
I tried to rooting my phone using the Motorolaoneclickroot, it says my phone should be rooted but when i use titanium backup it tells me its not rooted
then i have tried using Pete's Motorola Root Tools and i get this message
ERROR: adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method

Try again from the start, but if the problem continues, check your version
of Gingerbread -- hopefully you don't have a version where this exploit
was fixed.

I don't know what to do?! someone help me
I have gingerbread 2.3.4
